Chapter 98
Sage chuckled lightly. “I won’t waste my breath providing you with answers that can be easily searched on Google. You can continue bickering with each other if you want. I’ll be taking my
leave first.”
“You must be feeling awkward now, right? After all, you’re nothing but a useless bitch without any academic achievements under your belt.
“I can’t believe you still have the gall to maintain your elegant and composed façade!” a woman, who clearly had gone under the knife before, exclaimed snarkily.
Upon hearing her insults, Sage’s smile faded away instantly. She shot a cool glance in the woman’s direction afterward.
“It’s fine if you’re mocking me, but going so far as to insult me? That’s not something you should do. Take this for example. It’s perfectly okay for someone to comment about your artificial beauty. But they can’t mock you for going through plastic surgery just to conceal your ugly nature.”
“Are you calling me ugly?” the woman screeched while shooting up to her feet in an instant. She looked like she was ready to tear into Sage at any given moment.
“What do you think you’re doing?” Ian’s icy voice boomed at that moment.
Sage turned around to see him and Ivy heading toward her.
“Are you alright, Mrs. Holcomb?” Ivy asked in concern.
Before Sage could respond, the woman started crying about her woes.
“So what if you’re Mrs. Holcomb? I was just asking you questions about balance sheets and the capital flow meant for investments. Even if you can’t answer any of them, that doesn’t mean you can just humiliate me by claiming that I’ve gotten work done on my face!”
“Mr. Holcomb, Sage was just running her mouth out of rage. Please don’t blame her,” Delilah. piped up immediately.
Sage chuckled on the inside, now knowing the reason why Delilah had dragged her all the way here and instigated a heated argument between her and the women. It was so that she could bait Ian into berating Sage for starting a fight in public.
“How dare you lay a finger on my wife over such a petty matter!”
Just as Sage was about to defend herself, she felt lan wrap a strong arm around her waist.
He continued coldly, “Why should my wife explain the concept of capital flow in finance performances to you? Also, it’s clear to all that you’ve gone under the knife before! Denying it

is one thing, but actively stopping others from bringing it up is another!”
Ian’s protective side shocked both Ivy and Sage. Sage still remembered vividly how tan had lashed out at her for using her status as Mrs. Holcomb to oppress the receptionist who had framed her in the company lobby back then.
Maybe he was doing this just to keep up the pretense of being a good husband.
The woman ran away while covering her face and sobbing loudly after hearing lan’s derogatory remarks. On the other hand, the other women looked slightly pensive.
“Mr. Holcomb, we heard that Mrs. Holcomb has obtained a CFA license. That’s why we wanted to discuss finance–related matters with her.”
“Yeah. We don’t intend to put her on the spot.”
“There’s no need for you to doubt Mrs. Holcomb’s capabilities,” Ivy said gently in an attempt to ease the tension. “She’s the one who came up with Mimosa’s business proposal that Bolton Investment intends to use.”
The women looked flabbergasted, to say the least. Although they didn’t work at Bolton Investment, they had the honor of reading the business proposal that had won the bid. The capital flow was just the basic information jotted on the proposal. The fine details and data were displayed there, too.
“I didn’t know Mrs. Holcomb was that capable! It’s our fault for not recognizing her actual
skills.”
“I’m sorry
for my
offensive remarks, Mrs. Holcomb.”
Sage couldn’t care less about whether or not the women were genuine in their apologies. She was done venting her frustrations on them, after all.
“Let’s go,” she said to Ian.
“Mr. Holcomb, I’ll deal with the aftermath,” Ivy chimed in as well.
