A Girl Adopted by Wolves novel Chapter 12

Last school bell rang just now and I am stuffing my things in my bag. Aaron and I walked out the door together. Natalie and Oliver were standing in the parking, talking to each other. Alex and Elena were talking near Elena’s car. Aaron's, Elena's and the Knight's cars were magically parked next to each other. As we reached near them, they turned their heads towards us and waved at us. Aaron gave them an awkward smile and I waved back while walking towards Aaron's car. Maybe Aaron wasn't much comfortable around them. I should have asked him about it beforehand but I can’t do anything about it now. It’s too late for that. Ryder was so quiet all day, I would have forgotten he was even there, if he wasn't so freaking huge. God bless me when I reach home. He is waiting for me at the back of the school were we usually meet, but this time for a different reason. Aaron gave me a tight hug and left in his car.

"Are you free this Saturday evening?" Natalie asked walking towards me.

What is with the vampires asking me if I am free or not? I am so, let's see what she wants. They are really nice people, if they really count as people. As I am still a part of their cuisine, I got to be careful.

"Yeah. Why did you ask?" I replied.

"Well Grace and William invited you and Elena for dinner. I know this sounds weird but they really wanted to meet you two properly. Elena already knows about us. Alex told her. They are dating now." she muttered something under her breath "You also left in a haste that day. We don't blame you or anything. We can understand. You must be really sacred.” Not scared of you. Okay maybe a little. “They just wants to be more familiar with their new family members. So are you coming?" She asked expectantly.

Girl you have no idea who I am. But I can't deny her offer. It would sound rude. And what does she means by new family members? Elena, I can understand but me… Well let's see what they want.

"As long as I don't end up as your dessert, I am good to go." I joked. Some part of me did wanted to confirm that that was not on the agenda.

She laughed," Don't worry about it. We use blood bags not actual humans and sometimes animals." She said casually.

'I heard that and extra training for you on Sunday for using my first name.' Papa’s voice rang in my head.

Uhhh this old man. Does he even have a second name? I mean it’s only Hercules right.

'Want me to extend your punishment young lady?' papa threatened playfully and I heard Ryder trying not to laugh at my expense and failing miserably. Huh those two jokers.

I ignored those two and laughed on what Natalie said and continued talking with her," Well then I should get going. It's a long walk home."

"Sure. See you tomorrow." She said walking towards her car.

"Yeah. Bye." I waved at her.

With that being said Alex, Oliver and Natalie climbed in their car and left. Elena was already gone by now. But didn't Alex say, he wanted to talk to me about something after school. He might have forgotten about it. I should get back home too. I also have to go to my shift in the diner later. I started walking in the jungle with Ryder but didn't talk to him in case anyone saw me. Few steps in and Ryder stopped in his tracks. He said, 'He is coming this way'. Before I can say anything, Alex was standing in front of me. I screamed in surprise. He stared at me and then started to laugh. I am this close of bitch slapping him but that won't hurt him so why waste my energy.

"Are you going to stop laughing or not?" I asked pouting.

"Give me a minute. Oh my god your face." and he continued his cackling.

I side stepped him and started walking in the jungle. I can be a brat too.

"Hey wait. I was joking." he said blocking my path. Why does everyone have to be faster than me? This is really getting on my nerves.

"What do you want to talk about?" I said folding my hands on my chest and giving him a stink eye. I am still mad at him for touching my phone and now this. Uhh this guy can never learn.

"Yeah about that. What did you do to Oliver in the jungle?" He asked in a serious tone.

I stared at him with wide eyes. So this proves I actually did it and he does remember about the incident. But why didn't he ask me before? Oliver does not seem to remember anything or was he acting too. Let's play my favourite game, playing dumb.

"What are you talking about?” I asked innocently.

"I know you know what I am talking about. One moment Oliver was thirsty for your blood, to get out of my grip and suck you dry” I winced at the awful image that formed in my head but Alexander continued talking. “And the other moment he was calm. The only difference in the after situation was that you touched his face and boom, all the anger and the lust for your blood was gone. Just like that.” I shuddered. No need for the details buddy. “So tell me what you did? Oliver don't even remember something like this happened. He just remembers trying to attack you then getting under control all of a sudden. After that you fainted and we brought you home." He finished narrowing his eyes at me.

Ahh so that’s what really happened. What should I even tell him though? I myself don't know how that happened. I can't tell him about my family.

"I swear I don't know what happened. I thought it was a dream till now. I was in a daze myself I guess. All I remember is Oliver trying to attack me and you holding him back. Then everything is hazy from there. That calming part almost looked like I was dreaming. Then everything went black and I woke up at your place.” I said “So it did happen." I muttered the last part more like to myself to make this story more convincing. I know he can hear me anyways.

Hehehe I am getting better at lying, not something to be proud of but it comes in handy when you have too many secrets in your life.

"Are you telling me the truth?" Alexander asked me a bit suspicious.

"Off course. Why would I lie to you, when I am clearly at a disadvantage?" I said rubbing the back of my neck.

"I am not going to hurt you. If I wanted to I would have done it the other night." he said, hurt shining clearly on his face. Oops. Now I feel like a villain.

"I know." I said. Geez I didn’t mean to hurt him. I just wanted him off of my back.
