A Love Reawakened: The Alpha's Regret (Angela) novel Chapter 138

Chapter 138
BOOK 2: CHAPTER 8
Harriette's POV
I've been in this rogue pack for two days now. I haven't successfully carried out the mission I came here for, due to a number of reasons. First off, I've had no contact whatsoever with Rowan, my one and only target. The only thing I've learned so far about this pack was its name. It was called the Prussia Pack.
The last time I saw Rowan was the day I buried my nose in Rowan's chest. When my brain finally registered what I had done, my eyes went wide and I tried to come up with an explanation for my mistake but I couldn't bring myself to lie.
Shit! Shit! Shit! I mumbled repeatedly. My mouth suddenly went dry as I felt his chest rumble with a loud growl.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" He growled. It was obvious that he was fucking mad or maybe raging mad but either way, I moved away from him. I swallowed hard trying to think and talk but my senses suddenly disappeared.
"I asked you a fucking question"
I growled again. I managed to look up at him and this time, I almost fell to the ground.
His eyes suddenly turned red, burning like fire and I felt as though they would consume me. I didn't believe what I was looking at.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry," I quickly apologized repeatedly.
Alpha Rowan lifted his hand towards me and I could see his sharp, long claws. I closed my eyes, waiting for the impact and the pain.
It never came.
I slowly opened my eyes again and stared at him. His eyes were back to normal and his hand was back to his side.
"Don't you fucking come near me again, Harriette, or else, I'll make you question everything around you,"
I shivered with intensity from his threats. I was overwhelmed but still confused.
What the fuck did I just do? Why did I do that?
I still shiver but with embarrassment even though it's been two days since it happened. That wasn't part of my plan. That wasn't even supposed to be the smallest mistake I should've made but it happened and I hate myself.
It's been two days and I haven't set my eyes on Alpha Rowan. Except for his office that I visited the other day, I didn't know about his private residence. If I did, I would've come up with a plan to sneak in and out.
All I needed was five minutes to carry out whatever I had to do and run.
There was no one to ask about his private residence because the people in the Rogue Pack were a bit sensitive and found it hard to open up to Ella and me.
I haven't been allowed to join the fighters yet because the doctor said I needed to rest for three days so I had to join Ella in the kitchen to assist with some menial jobs.
Fuck rest! I didn't even need that.
Every day, by evening, I found solitude on a mountain that gave me access to overlooking the pack. The mountain was located behind the kitchen but it was high enough. I needed to map out routes and create escape plans so that when the time came, I wouldn't find it difficult to escape from the pack.
First, I needed information and to get that, I needed to earn the trust of some people.
But the Prussia people were so freaking closed off. They had no communal relationship whatsoever in the pack. It wasn't like home where we knew each other and communicated well with each other.
I sighed in frustration.
I crawled down from the mountain and made my way back to the room once it was night. New members of the pack weren't allowed to stay out of the room once it was nine and it was close to that time.
As I got closer to the room I shared with Ella and of course, the snobby bitch, I didn't bother to knock. We were unfortunate enough to be assigned to the same room as her.
No, I wasn't trying to get on the nerves of the snobby bitch. She had a name but I didn't bother to know or remember it.
"Barbarian," she mumbled under her breath. She was there and so was Ella.
I shrugged. "Bitch," I smirked as I looked her straight in the eye.
Her countenance changed but she dared not speak a word. She walked out of the room in silence.
From my peripheral vision, I could see Ella fidgeting in her seat as the bitch threw the door open. She suddenly became calm once she left.
I turned to my sister. "What's wrong?"
I asked her.
"Nothing," she shook her head.
That was one thing about Ella. Despite how close the two of us were, she always found it difficult to open up to me.
Or anyone.
"Why do you look pale? Have you had dinner?" I asked her.
"No, I'm just coming back from the kitchen,"
"Good. Let's get dinner together," I asked her.
She nodded slowly. I watched her like a hawk as she stood up from the small stool in the room. It took her a few seconds to stand and she had this painful look on her face.
I grabbed her hand and quickly lifted her blouse. Ella's body was covered in bruises, red marks spread across half of her skin. The longer I stared, the louder the piercing sound in my head grew, until it drowned out everything else.
"Who did this?" I asked her.
She shook her head frantically. "I don't want to cause any trouble for you. You know we can't afford to let ourselves get thrown out and disappoint Mother,"
"So you laid down like an idiot and allowed whoever it was to beat you up to a pulp," I inquired angrily.
"It was the best option,"
"Fine. Just tell me who it was so I can avoid them. I won't do anything stupid, I promise,"
"Promise?"
I nodded. I had managed to hide my hand from Ella but it was shaking ferociously. If I didn't hurt whoever did it, I could die untimely.
"Sally,"
I frowned and scrunched my nose. It didn't sound familiar.
"Who is Sally?"
She cocked her eyebrow as she stared at me in disbelief.
"Our roommate, Sally,"
"Ooh, that Sally. Cool,"
Before Ella could blink, I dashed out of the room. I could hear her yelling my name from behind but I didn't stop.
I needed to find Sally.
I ran into the dining area and it only took me two seconds to find Sally. She was having dinner with two other girls who looked similar to her. It was not like I cared but I didn't just want to hurt the wrong person.
I walked towards Sally hurriedly and grabbed her hair.
Before she could comprehend what was going on, I smashed her face into her plate of food.
She screamed like a banshee. I pushed her off the chair, sat on her, and began punching her as much as I could
She couldn't fight back because it appeared as though I was stronger than her.
I stood up and began kicking her the same way I imagined she'd kicked Ella.
"No one touches my sister except for me,"
I yelled.
Sally tried standing up to fight me back but I was quicker to slap her in the face.
"What is going on here?" a new voice bellowed.
I smirked as I immediately recognized the voice.
It was as if I used one stone to kill two birds.
I turned back and it was the man I'd been looking for, Alpha Rowan.
I cocked an eyebrow.
Look what dragged the rabbit out of its hole.
