Chapter 16
At the Larson residence, Jeffrey carried Roseanne back to her room. The sounds that echoed from the room lasted all night.
Roseanne wasn’t a shy woman to begin with, and her time studying abroad had left her with open–minded views. The drugs had been mixed into the juice led her to completely let loose. All through the night, she clung relentlessly to Jeffrey, making sounds that could be heard even through the door by people outside.
Felicia and Mason sat on the couch, feeling concerned for Roseanne. However, hearing the kind of noises she was making brought a wave of embarrassment to them. Nevertheless, Felicia instructed the servants to prepare some nutritious tonic.
The next afternoon, the couple finally emerged from their room. They both had a pallor about them as if vitality had been completely drained from their bodies. Felicia quickly brought over the tonic, urging them to drink it.

Jeffrey assured his in–laws and Roseanne, “Don’t worry. That country bumpkin dared do such things; I won’t get away with it. By the way, I’ll also talk to my parents about speeding up the wedding–I won’t let Roseanne suffer.” His promise brought a shy smile to Roseanne’s face.

Roseanne strategically mentioned the marriage agreement, knowing how important it was to Mason. The Sullivan family was internationally recognized as one of the most prominent families, and any tie to them could bring endless benefits, especially a marriage. Hence, Mason had cultivated Roseanne for this moment and wouldn’t permit any mishaps,
Now, Mason was furious and regretted not arranging some kind of “accident” to kill Cynthia. He reassured Roseanne, “Rosie, I will take care of it. As long as she wants her mother’s shares in the company, she will come begging me. You just need to secure Jeffrey’s heart.”
Roseanne nodded in agreement
Mason then asked, cautiously, “Did you guys take any… precautions last night?
A little embarrassed, Roseanne shook her head. Jeffrey had planned to, but couldn’t resist her fervor, and hence gave

Of all the terrible translations this is by far the worst. Garbled rubbish with different languages in between. I wouldn't recommend this novel!...
