The desk was buried under a mountain of files and data, and the charts and reports on the computer screen were enough to make anyone's head spin.
Camila was sifting through the paperwork in her hands while sneaking glances at Connor. He was deep in a video conference, which was supposed to wrap up in two hours but had dragged on to three due to some unexpected issues. His brow was furrowed in concentration.
It was Friday, and it was also Christmas Eve—their first holiday together since they started dating.
In the morning, Connor had mentioned he wanted to take her out tonight and not come back home. Camila had eagerly packed an outfit and some toiletries, which were now patiently waiting at her feet.
Finally, Connor ended his video conference. He stepped out of his office, looking a bit worn out, but the moment he saw Camila’s smile, his exhaustion seemed to melt away, and he instantly perked up.
“Sorry, have you been waiting long?” he asked gently.
Camila shook her head with a smile, pointing at her computer screen. “I’ve been pretty busy too, you know?”
Connor’s lips curled into a warm smile. “Hungry? Let’s head out.”
Camila suggested, “You look beat. Maybe we should just stay in and have a quiet dinner at home.”
Connor shook his head. “I’m not tired at all. I have a special place in mind.”
They drove along the coastal road until they reached the harbor, where a luxurious yacht awaited them.
“Are we setting sail?” Camila asked, eyes wide with surprise.
Connor nodded with a grin, took her hand, and they both stepped onto the yacht's gangway. The captain was already waiting on the deck and came forward to greet them as soon as he saw Connor.
“Eden, this is the captain,” Connor introduced.
Camila nodded politely. “Hello, Captain.”
