When Hendrix saw that Everly's eye was like that, his heart ached.
The Farleys were in the hospital the whole day.
Parrish was still in surgery. Hendrix took advantage of Gloria's absence to remind Everly. "Don't pull a long face. You should have told me before you went to see Sarah. How dare you go and meet her?"
Everly was speechless for a while before whispering, "I didn't want to go. In fact ... I know it's been a hard time for you. Should I bother you with such trifles? And I was kind of prepared to meet Sarah, but I didn't think this was going to happen. I'm sorry."
"Don't say sorry." Hendrix frowned. "I am your brother. I'm supposed to take care of anything you need. But that doesn't make any sense right now. It's just the way it is. I just hope you won't get stressed out."
Everly didn't reply.
Hendrix paused and asked, "What do you want to do about the recording? I can do it just like you do."
Everly said, "These are not fakes. Just publish them. I don't want to go on like this. But..."
"But what?"
"It did mention the Kahls. Hendrix, I've thought about it. If the recording is released, the Kahls will be get involved. I thought you told me that Maverick and the Kahls were fighting like cats and dogs privately. Do you think it's appropriate?"
Hendrix sneered. "What does that matter? Are you too scared to admit it? The most important thing now is to keep Sarah, the go-to person, under control, or Alex, the old fox, will fight back."
Hendrix paused, frowned, and muttered to himself, "It's quite strange. I know Maverick's been suppressing the press, and I've been trying to get some popular stars to make headlines, but it just doesn't work. Alex and Declan's focus is on attacking Maverick's overseas market. I did some digging. It turns out they left the country a few days earlier, and that there's no way they could have managed this well back home. That's why I always feel like there's someone behind it.
"Is there anyone else?" Everly asked with horror.
"It can't be the Croke family." Several big families were fighting each other, but the Croke family stayed out of the way and just didn't want to get involved. "I can be sure of that. I don't know who he is. He's hiding it pretty well."
"Does he come after me?"
"I don't think so. I think he's coming after Maverick."
When it came to Maverick, Hendrix paused for a moment before saying, "Maverick should be back by now. He'll be here in a little while."
Everly's heart skipped a beat. She remembered that she tried to get in touch with Maverick when the accident happened, but failed to do so.
Of course, it was not Maverick's fault. Everly was just afraid that he would be distracted.
Besides, that was where Everly was at. So she didn't want to see Maverick right now.
"Did you tell Maverick?" Everly asked as she stood up.
When Hendrix saw how concerned she was, he couldn't help but tease, "Do you think you can hide it? Maverick is influential. He's been watching you. He will find out sooner or later even if I don't tell him."
Everly reached out and touched her eye, which was wrapped in gauze. She must be ugly now.
Everly thought for a moment before walking towards her ward. "Let me know when Dad gets better. I have a headache. I'm going to take a rest."
"Alright. It's not good for you to keep your eyes open for a long time. Don't worry about the children at home. I have them taken care of and they'll be all right," Hendrix said.
"But..."
"What?"
"If memory serves, it seems like Maverick's daughter's birthday is coming. I happened to meet Zane two days ago. By the way, do you know Zane?"
"Yes." Everly nodded.
"He said he wanted to hold a birthday party for Candy at the Lamont's and announce her identity. Do you know that?"
