A Pigeon Pair: Sweetheart, Let's Get Married novel Chapter 172

Everly received a call from Maverick in the afternoon.

In fact, Everly was wondering what Maverick was doing before the call. She was just uncomfortable and unhappy. She wanted to contact him for countless times, but she had to endure it. Finally, when she received a call from him, all her grievance seemed to have been stirred up.

"Have you had lunch?" Maverick, not knowing what Everly was doing, asked in a normal tone," The two children didn't make trouble at home, did they?"

Everly kept calm and did not answer. She asked him directly, "Have you eaten?"

"Yes." Maverick answered.

"Did you have the meal with your friends?"

"You mean Elenore? Yes, we had a meal together." Maverick answered in quick response.

He was so honest that Everly had to hold her temper. Maybe she just thought too much. She couldn't get angry for no reason. She couldn't.

She surpassed rushing grievance in her heart and then said in a low voice, "I've eaten. They are all very obedient."

"What's wrong? Are you unhappy?" Maverick certainly perceived Everly was kind of moody.

"No."

"Don't lie to me. Tell me if you are unhappy."

"I am not unhappy. Maybe because you weren't here, I was a little depressed."

These words successfully pleased Maverick. After all, they were far away from each other. As long as Everly watched her tone, Maverick couldn't tell her feeling even though he was a careful man.

"I will go back as soon as everything was down."

"Alright."

Everly happened to have a phone in. She glanced at the unknown number and was about to say something when she heard someone in the background of Maverick's side. It seemed that someone was talking about the handover of work. She said, "That's all for you. Go ahead and do your work. I'll take good care of everything."

Maverick was indeed a little busy but still told her to try to avoid going out during these days before hanging up the phone.

Everly hung up the phone and checked the phone number which just called in. She didn't know the number and it seemed not a local one.

She thought there had been a lot of stuff going on recently and didn't call back to the unknown number.

...

At the same time, the caller was standing in a telephone booth on the street in City B.

He was clothed in black.

Judging from the back, it seemed to be a tall man wearing a black cap. He kept every bit of himself covered. Nobody knew what he looked like.

He seemed to wait for the phone rang. But nobody called back. After waiting for a while, he felt a little disappointed and cast a fist on the phone. He didn't want to give up the slightest chance. Then he decided to call again but he had run out of all coins.

He, after standing there for a while, lowered his cap and looked around to ensure that nobody saw him, then he got out of the booth and slipped into an alley.

He soon vanished in the alley.

He didn't take off his mask until he was out of the alley. It was not an Asian man.
