Then Everly stepped back and let Dean pay the check. Her phone rang and it was Maverick.
"Everly, I was hosting a meeting just now so I missed your call. Are you home?" Everly could tell that Maverick was still in the office.
She replied, "I am ready to go home. How about you?"
"Where are you? Tell me and I will go and pick you up," Maverick said.
Everly thought that Maverick had been busy all day and he must have not had a meal. She wanted to go back by herself but she was afraid that Dean would offer to drive her back. So, Everly told Maverick where she was now.
"Wait for me there. I will here soon," Maverick said.
Everly hung up and Dean seemed to have heard their conversation. Dean said, "How about I wait here with you until Mr. Maverick comes over? It is late now."
"You don't have to, Mr. Dean. I am alright so you can leave first," Everly refused.
Dean insisted on waiting with her at first. But Everly was determined to wait alone so he left after they said goodbye.
When Everly was waiting for Maverick outside, she saw a familiar figure who she had not seen for years.
It was Miriam.
Miriam was the sister of Beth!
Everly knew what Beth looked like so she would not forget Miriam.
Beth and Miriam were twins.
They didn't look quite alike but their figures and dressing styles were the same. After so many years, Miriam didn't change the way she was dressed. Everly used to hang out with Beth so she got along well with Miriam, too. They used to talk a lot. Miriam's hair was still short and her look didn't change even after so many years.
But what surprised Everly was that Miriam was with Lawrence.
Everly couldn't believe her eyes but she was sure that the man with Miriam was indeed Lawrence.
What stunned Everly more was that Miriam was in Lawrence's arms. Miriam and Lawrence were standing against Everly, Everly could observe them without being noticed by them.
Everly was angry because Beth was her best friend and the boyfriend of her best friend was cheating on her.
Everly felt as if the man who was cheating on Beth was her boyfriend.
Beth had compromised and stayed in City C for Lawrence. But Lawrence cheated on her and the woman was Beth's sister...
Everly wanted to greet them. But Lawrence seemed to have noticed Everly's glare so he turned around.
Both of them felt awkward now.
Everly calmed down and thought that Lawrence and Miriam should feel awkward and guilty. She was just a witness.
Lawrence was surprised to see Everly. Everly was his aunt and she was also Beth's best friend. But now Everly had seen him and Miriam.
He lowered his head and said something to Miriam. Then Miriam turned around and looked at Everly.
