Jack had not met Edmond for a long time.
During this time, Jack had been hiding everywhere. In Edmond's heart, there was a world of difference between the Uncle Jack in front of him and the one in the past.
The feeling of a child was the same as that of an adult, and it was also somewhat different.
A child was straightforward, or perhaps it could be said that a child would naturally show his fears.
Because a child did not know how to control his emotions.
The panic in Edmond's heart was completely exposed to Jack's eyes.
Jack was a native American. He had not shaved for a few days and was like a kiwi. His eyes were deep like an ocean. Now he was staring at Edmond, which made Edmond quite unnerving.
"Uncle Jack..."
Jack finally said, "I won't hurt you, but you have to be obedient. You know, I like obedient children. You used to be a good boy and just keep on, okay?"
Edmond was about to cry, "No... I want my mom. I want my dad. Uncle Jack, please let me go. Let me go... I'm afraid."
"Dad?" Jack seemed to have grasped the key point. His thick dark eyebrows suddenly frowned. "He has already been your dad? He must have already known. No wonder..."
"No wonder they are all looking for you now. Don't be afraid, Edmond. I am protecting you. Do you know that? If uncle hadn't taken you away at that time, you wouldn't be in America now. Instead, you are in a country called Italy," he said to himself.
How could Edmond understand Jack's words? Edmond would only feel that Jack had become so terrifying that he was gonna swallow Edmond at any time.
He was too scared to cry.
"Don't cry anymore. I've already said that I won't hurt you, but you have to follow me." Jack seemed to lose his temper.
Regardless of whether Edmond understood or not, he continued to speak to himself, "Am I willing to do that? I am also threatened by others. Why do you refuse to listen to my words? If your mom could have cooperated with me, we wouldn't be here today. Do you understand? It's not my fault, but yours. I'm also very tired and regretful."
"Why?"
"I have always been threatened. I don't want to do that either... Don't cry anymore!"
"I've told you not to cry anymore! Shut up! Shut up!"
Jack suddenly threw the bottle of water out. The bottle fell on the floor, and let out a very harsh sound, which couldn't be covered by Edmond's crying.
Edmond was more sensible than other kids in his age.
Scared as he was, he could perceive that Jack was angry.
He rubbed his eyes, looking at Jack through his misty eyes. Only at this time did Edmond realize that this guy was no longer the Uncle Jack he knew before.
He thought of the anime he had watched. The protagonist would be quite calm when facing the bad guys. If the protagonist encountered difficulties, he couldn't behave in a panic. Thus, tears could not solve any problems.
He thought of the anime he had always been watching and the character that he liked very much.
Edmond finally stopped crying. Perhaps he was afraid that Jack would go crazy and hurt him.
He made an apology.
"Uncle Jack, I was wrong. I won't cry, but don't be so fierce. I'm afraid."
Edmond took after Everly very much. During this time, Jack had been threatened to get mad but he had always felt guilty towards Everly. Because of that, Jack had never hurt Everly.
Apart from that incident back then.
Looking at Edmond, he calmed down a little and thought of Everly.
Taking a deep breath, he let go of his tightly clenched fists and finally said, "Be good. I won't hurt you, but you have to be with me. I will protect you."
