Maverick went to another hospital.
It took him some time. He didn't go to Lamont because he needed to show up and sign a contract.
With Everly being hospitalized, Jayden came back to take over the job.
But Maverick did not approve of Everly's resignation. With Jayden coming back, now Everly's work had been done well. Jayden could do two jobs well at the same time.
Jayden was in the passenger seat, holding a tablet. He said to Maverick, "Mr. Maverick, we only find a few clues. But someone used the number that Miley used before to contact Levi. Levi did not get any money. I think it was just his matter. He has been interested in Miss Everly before."
"Miley?"
"Are you sure?" Maverick frowned.
"Someone used her number. If we follow this clue, it was indeed Miley."
Maverick lowered his eyes, his slender fingers tapping his knees, silent.
Jayden skipped this and added, "But Levi indeed is somewhat involved with the Rice family. Now the Kahl family is involved. Should we suppress this matter? About the thing happening in Weirdale, it seemed Declan went to see Jenson before. I don't think they would retaliate against Miss Everly. That's stupid. I think it’s most likely Miley and Carolina."
Of course Jayden had thought of this.
But no matter it was Miley or Carolina, Maverick would make them suffer.
...
"That night, Everly went to the hotel because someone asked her to do so. Go investigate who this person is."
Jayden nodded.
Maverick pinched his nose bridge. Suddenly he thought of something and said, "Candy looks fine now. It's time to ask Carolina to leave. She has been staying with Candy all these years."
He pondered for a moment and added, "About what I told you before, you can start now."
"Mr. Maverick, now?" Jayden was surprised.
"It's time."
Jayden knew Maverick's original plan. Miley and Carolina were just a cover-up. No matter they stayed beside Maverick or not, Maverick wouldn't be bothered.
But for Jenson, it was different. He was reassured if they stayed beside Maverick. He thought there was a marriage relationship.
In fact, Maverick had a plan.
City C was a big city. Before he could deal with Miley and Carolina, he had to take down a family.
Now something changed. And Jayden knew the reason.
"Mr. Maverick, well, I'm wondering if I should say that, but ..."
Maverick looked up at Jayden who looked hesitating. He knew what Jayden was thinking because Jayden had followed him for many years.
Maverick's eyebrows moved slightly, his voice colder. "Then don't."
Jayden's expression changed and he hurriedly apologized, "I'm sorry Mr. Maverick. I shouldn't have said that."
"Mind your business."
They arrived at the entrance of the hospital. Maverick thought of something when he got out of the car. He turned to the side and said to Jayden who was in the passenger seat with a somewhat annoyed expression, "If my mother asks you something, you know how to reply?"
Jayden knew very well about Maverick. He immediately nodded, not daring to say anything else.
Jayden could not help but sigh after Maverick left.
Previously, he was wondering whether he should tell Maverick that Everly had a five-year-old son. At that time, he thought that Everly might have ulterior motives.
But now it seemed he overthought it.
Maverick had power and money.
If he cared about what had happened to Everly, he wouldn't allow Everly to reach his heart.
It seemed everything had been settled.
