Chapter 539 “Of course. What else? Do you think they’ll even beat me?”
Sage exercised her neck and patted Luther’s shoulder. “Relax, Luther. Tim and Kane may scold me, but it’ll be fine. I just have to be obedient to them. Please help me take most of the damage later.”
Luther complained, “Are you f*king serious?”
“Maybe I am.”
“I…” Luther was rendered speechless and almost cried. Why did he always end up as the victim?
When they arrived at South River Club, the scene was chaos. The police, fire department, and reporter were the first to arrive, making the place very crowded.
Sage frowned and got down of the car. The phone in her pocket rang, but she did not hear it. All sorts of noises were blaring in her ears, including the sirens and the onlooker’s distinct murmurs.
“What’s going on this year? There’s a club that was on fire just a while ago. Why is South River Club on fire too?”
“Didn’t the club clear the rumor? It didn’t burn. It was just a prank.”
“Didn’t the club close down anyway? I heard it has something to do with the bombing and involved three death. The bomb exploded in the suburbs. I don’t know what happened, but it sounds so scary. What a bad year…”
“South River Club has always been peaceful. Why did it suddenly catch fire? Why are the police here?”
“They said it was an intentional fire. The police came to arrest someone.”
“Tsk! These rich people have too much money and keep making trouble… Terrible.”
Sage looked up to the sea of fire right on the eighth floor. A cold, icy light flashed in her eyes. Did he escape again? Jace and Cole arrived first. After learning about the situation, they tried to go upstairs. However, they were stopped by the firefighters, who came earlier than them.
Jace and Cole came too late. They walked out of the South River Club with a grimace
“Jace, isn’t that your ex-wife?” Cole elbowed Jace.
it.
He clenched his fist, wanting to tell Sage not to be scared. He was right there for her, and he would take care of her.
“Sage…”
Just as he wanted to tell her all that, something happened. A man suddenly emerged from the crowd. He rushed forward with an iron rod in his hand, looking fierce and cold. He was about to strike Sage’s head.
“Watch out!” Jace’s eyes widened in horror. He almost instinctively protected the back of Sage’s head with a hand, pulling her into his arms. The strike that was about to hit Sage instantly struck Jace’s head.
“Bang!” was the only thing that could be heard.
Sage’s vision was blurred by the sunlight. She felt Jace’s figure shake heavily and watched the blood dripping down from his head. Jace closed his eyes and fell to the ground.
