"...My brother really believed you."
Under the moonlight, Nathaniel seemed sad. Hesper ignored his expression. From here on out, they would be strangers.
"Don't you want anything else? Rickard's antidote, perhaps."
Hesper looked up. He knew what she wanted the most. Even though she was tempted, she remained level-headed. "You aren't that nice."
"It's fine if you don't believe me." Nathaniel turned around. Getting the hint, Carter nodded and put Renfrew down on the ground. He moved back to create some distance, showing that he wasn't going to do anything.
Even though 013 looked unhappy about it, since Nathaniel's identity was exposed and they no longer had the Tuckers' protection, they wouldn't be safe in Halwanest anymore.
The four of them, including Juniper, left the riverbank quickly. Watching them leave, Hespser sighed with relief.
Even though she had brought some men with her, to avoid spooking them, she asked them to wait for her in the woods. However, she was so shocked seeing Nathaniel, she forgot to call for them.
If Nathaniel had decided to attack, she wouldn't have been able to win.
"I was lucky…" Taking Renfrew in her arms, Hesper felt that had she recovered what she lost. At least Renfrew wasn't hurt. Recalling Nathaniel's icy cold expression under the moonlight, Hesper fully believed that if she had gotten there a little later, she would have been too late.
