Michael looked at the Twitter post. He really had no idea about it.
It seemed like that day, it had rained heavily, and Lucy mentioned she had a fever.
"Mr. Shawn went through all that trouble to buy Panadol overseas?"
"She had it with her already, and I really didn't know she would post something like that on Twitter!"
Chloe shrugged, deciding not to listen to more of his explanations.
The atmosphere grew awkward, and both of them fell silent. It was Gigi who broke the tension, running up to Chloe and circling her feet playfully.
Chloe bent down to pet Gigi, then headed downstairs with the dog, leaving Michael at the top of the stairs.
Michael didn't hurry down. Instead, he pulled up the recording Chloe had posted of her and Lucy's conversation and asked Ethan to verify its authenticity.
He had previously thought the recording was fake and had suppressed the buzz on Twitter.
As Chloe played with Gigi, Michael came down with a severe expression. He looked at her and said, "Chloe, there's news about the incident at yesterday's fireworks festival."
Chloe immediately looked at him. "The light stand collapse wasn't an accident?"
Michael nodded. "There was surveillance footage from yesterday. After the video was restored today, I recognized a very familiar face."
Admas also knew about the fireworks festival incident, so the three of them sat in the living room to watch the footage.
As Chloe watched the video and saw William's face appear again, she couldn't hide her shock.
"William again!"
Chloe narrowed her eyes. "Wait, let me call Candy."
The call connected quickly. "Candy, is the tracker on William still active?"
"Yes, it is. Why?"
Candy sat down at her computer upon hearing this.
"William was the one who knocked over the light stand at the fireworks festival yesterday."
The footage showed him secretly loosening the screws of the stand.
"What? Hold on, let me check."
Candy tapped away on her keyboard. "William's tracker showed he was moving around yesterday, but he didn't go near the fireworks festival!"
Chloe glanced at Michael, and the two of them quickly went upstairs.
In the study, Chloe operated his computer, pulling up William's recent activity.
He had been active almost every day, but mostly just between his restaurant and home.
During the fireworks festival, the tracker showed that he wasn't home but instead strolling near the garden at Urban Lane.
"I'll check the surveillance over there."
Chloe accessed the surveillance footage from that street, and it did show William's figure.
"But... how could this be?
Two Williams in different places at the same time?
Could he have cloned himself?" Chloe thought.
"Candy, what's going on? Was it really William who did it yesterday?"
Candy was just as confused.
Chloe sent her the fireworks festival footage, and after watching it, Candy let out the first curse of the day, "What the hell?"
"Could it be someone wearing a mask?" Michael suggested.
Chloe shook her head. "No way, do you think this is some ancient disguise technique? Even with a mask, it wouldn't look exactly like William!"
