Michael tried to get that loungewear back, but James dodged it. "I'm handsome, I look good in anything. I wouldn't mind your clothes."

Michael, exasperated by James but mindful of Chloe being next to him, sat down on the couch.

"Chloe, your earrings are pretty nice!"

James started talking to Chloe, who was next to him.

"I bought it casually after dinner the other day."

After eating with William and the others the other day, Chloe had come out for a walk and bought handmade earrings from a random store.

It was inlaid with blue agate. Chloe had bought it as she thought it was not bad.

No sooner had she said that than her cell phone rang. It was none other than Vicky calling.

Chloe glanced at James. "What do I say?"

"Just say you didn't find me, and say it looks like I'm back in the country. Just make up any lie you want. Aren't you the best at lying?"

James thought, "She can even lie about the baby being mine. How could she not know how to make it up at this point?"

Chloe really wanted to hit him.

"Hello? I didn't find him. I don't know where he went. He probably went back home. Why don't you go back and check?"

After she finished with Vicky, Maggie called her.

She repeated what she had told Vicky again, even in the exact same tone.

Only when she hung up did James give her a thumbs up. "I knew you could. No one can lie better than you!"

"I thank you so much!"

Chloe gritted her teeth and wanted to eat him up.

Michael sat watching the interaction between the two, depressed.

The thought that this could be the pattern for the two of them for many years in the future drove him crazy with jealousy.

Chloe called Candy in the evening and asked if she and Wesley wanted to come over for dinner. Today, William was having a spicy barbeque at home.

"Chloe, I can't go there today. How about tomorrow? I've got something going on today."

Candy's somewhat urgent voice made Chloe think something was wrong. "What's wrong?"

"Wesley's hurt. He's in the hospital now. I have to guard him."

Chloe had always thought Candy was a strong person. She had never seen Candy vulnerable about anything.

But now her voice was choked.

"What hospital are you in? I'm coming over now!"

Chloe began to put on her coat and shoes, causing Michael, James, and William to look at her quizzically.

Candy gave an address for the hospital where James was discharged today.

Something suddenly occurred to Chloe.

"Chloe, where are you going?"

Michael walked over immediately after she hung up, wanting to know what was going on.

"Wesley's in surgery. I'm going over to check on Candy."

James was left alone because of his injuries. William and Michael both decided to follow Chloe over to check it out.

"Spicy barbeque is ready. You can eat it by yourself. You don't have to wait for us!"
