In the cramped bathroom, Chloe finally pulled out the medication from her bag. She swallowed one pill before handing the bottle to Candy.

Candy eyed the bottle with a puzzled look. "What's this for?"

Chloe sighed and handed over the packaging and instructions she hadn't had a chance to discard.

Candy read through it with growing disbelief until she reached a particular line.

Her eyes widened, nearly making her fumble the bottle.

She thought, "How can this be? How can she actually be infected with HIV?"

Chloe took the bottle back. "Now you know why I've been so adamant about keeping you away. I didn't want you to get infected."

Candy's mind was racing, barely able to process the news.

Chloe nodded. "Yes, I need to take it for twenty-eight days, then we'll see."

Candy's relief was palpable. "That's a relief! You're going to be fine. Don't freak yourself out. Just keep taking the meds, and we'll get checked again in twenty-eight days. Everything will be okay..."

Seeing Candy's frantic but supportive demeanor, Chloe felt a pang of guilt.
