Chapter 82 Testing the Waters
Maurie's response confirmed her suspicions. Yet, Leah found herself at a loss for words to answer his question.
She hesitated. "It's not exactly like that..."
Marrying Quentin and serving his family for three years like a maid had been the most degrading experience in Leah's eyes.
She didn't want others to know about this painful period of her life.
Resting his chin on his hand and blinking his eyes at Leah, Maurie playfully asked, "I'm really curious. What kind of man would catch your eye? Can you tell me about your ideal type?"
Leah shook her head. "I don't have an ideal type."
A look of confusion spread across Maurie's face. "You don't have any ideal type?"
"Yes. I've always gone with my gut feeling. If it feels right, then I'll fall for the person," Leah replied, her expression neutral.
It was obvious that she didn't want to dwell on the topic any longer.
Maurie had finally managed to extract the information he wanted from their conversation. Wishing to avoid putting Leah off before he even started pursuing her, he swiftly changed the subject.
"Oh, I almost forgot to tell you something important. I've been working on a film that's almost finished. I'm really happy with how it's turning out, and I think it will be a big hit. I'm having a wrap party in a few days, and I'd love for you to join me."
"Of course, I'd love to join. But wouldn't wrap parties typically be for the cast and directors of the film? I don't think it's appropriate for me to join," Leah replied. Even though her brother Luke was a celebrity, Leah rarely participated in entertainment industry events. She was concerned that she wouldn't be able to blend in and would feel out of place.
Maurie explained, "It's not just a wrap party. It's also a celebration party. Aside from you, some of my friends and high school classmates will be there. You knew those high school classmates from back then. I think they'd look forward to seeing you again after all these years."
Leah actually wanted to meet her high school friends, so she agreed after hearing Maurie. "Alright, just send me the details when you have them later, and I'll be there."
