Love Story - Chapter 10
Back home, after I said the word "breakup," Nico just sat on the sofa smoking, one cigarette after another.
I opened the window to let the air in and continued:
"We'll each explain to our families about canceling the wedding."
"This house was bought in my name. I called you here today because I hope you can pack your things and move out as soon as possible."
He suddenly spoke up:
"When did you find out?"
I was puzzled:
"Does that matter?"
He stared at me, insisting on an answer.
"About a week ago," I answered while tearing up the wedding invitations on the table one by one and throwing them in the trash, "That night you went to Moon Hotel room 1108. Seems like her new lingerie satisfied you?"
I hadn't expected that after a week of adjustment, I could now say it as if I were telling a joke.
Nico violently stubbed out his cigarette, starting to lose control of his emotions.
He suddenly threw the pillow beside him, running his hands through his hair in frustration:
"Fuck!"
He paced back and forth in the living room a few times, then suddenly looked up, asking me with red-rimmed eyes:
"You're dead set on breaking up, aren't you? It's completely over between us?"
