Arrogant Man VS Unyielding Woman novel Chapter 590

Calvin still didn't show any recognition. Jean was so deeply hurt that all her emotions just surged inside of her. In despair, she asked, "How can this be? How could you let a woman ruin your life so easily? She's already been dead for almost ten years, why can't you go easy on yourself? Calvin, if you're not brave enough to face all these, why didn't you just leave this world with Christina back then?

Why?"

She bit her lower lip and continued in an agitated voice, "Yes, since you know and feel nothing around you now, why didn't you just leave this world with her together?

Don't you love her that much? Why are you still alive and bringing others pain?"

Suddenly, Jean felt shaking on her hand. She raised her teary face and stared at Calvin's shaking hand in surprise.

Calvin's hand, pale and worn out, was shaking right now, and this was the first movement Jean had noticed from him.

Jean glanced at Calvin's face, making her eyes widen in disbelief. She couldn't believe what she was seeing right now. Tears escaped from Calvin's eyes, and all the life seemed to have sucked back in his body.

"Did you really wish that I should have died together with Christina? So I wouldn't cause you and Zed any trouble? Did you really think that way?"

There was pain in his eyes when he asked Jean.

Jean was relieved that Calvin was finally looking at her and talking to her. After hearing Calvin's question, she couldn't ignore the pain in his tone, so she got emotional and explained in tears, "No! No, no matter how much trouble you would give us, Zed and I both welcome you with open arms. It's just that we don't want to see you abandon yourself like this, tossing yourself like trash as if you don't find yourself worthy of living anymore."

Calvin stared back at Jean and saw only sincerity in her eyes. "You really don't mind?" Jean was crying hard that she could only nod in reply. He gave her a bitter smile before he held out his hand and wiped the tears on Jean's face gently. "Don't cry. If anyone sees you like this, they will think that I've bullied you."

Hearing this, Jean smiled back. "Since I knew you, you have bullied me a lot, haven't you?"

Calvin just smiled back and sighed, "Ever since I concealed myself from the outside world, how come that of all the visitors that came, you are the most fierce one?"

Jean looked at him in amazement. "Wait, so, you were still able to perceive?"

"What are you talking about? I just shut myself out, but my senses are normal, okay?" Hearing that, Jean playfully punched Calvin's shoulder, feeling embarrassed by how much of a scene she had moments ago. Calvin noticed Jean's humiliation so he said, a bitter smile formed on his face, "Don't worry. I deserve your scolding, or I really don't know when I will wake and make up my mind to face it all. Jean, you are right. I have wasted ten years of my life, and I should live for my friends and my family if I can't live for myself."

"It's good that you finally realize all this." She paused to give him a smile. "I know I shouldn't underestimate you. Good for you, Calvin."

Calvin smiled back and looked away, keeping his gaze deeply at the flower he was staring lifelessly at a while ago, and right now, he seemed to be aware of it. "All these days, I have been looking back at my past, reminding myself of every moment I had with Christina. I've spent ten years memorizing my past with her and now I think it's enough. From now on, I will live for myself. No hatred, no resentment, no misunderstanding. I will live for my true self."

Hearing this, Jean felt relieved. She left Calvin with his thoughts for a while. After a moment, she asked, "Calvin, are we still friends?"

"Of course, unless you still hold a grudge for what I had done to you and don't see me as your friend," Calvin replied sincerely.

"Why would I have bothered to visit you if I don't see you as my friend? Would I go through all the trouble to scold you back to reality?" Jean smiled and hugged him. "Welcome back, Calvin."

Calvin hugged Jean back with a big smile on his face. "Thank you, Jean."

They pulled away, and Jean looked at Calvin with a serious look. "Don't be so distant between you and me," said Jean. Calvin just smiled and nodded. As Jean looked at Calvin, she was starting to notice his stubble and worn out face. "Look at you, when was the last time you cleaned yourself? You now look like a raunchy hobo."

"Am I really that hideous?" Calvin held out his hand and touched his face. Then, he shook his head and laughed. "It looks like I really should tidy myself up and get ready to get discharged."

"That is an amazing idea." Smiling, Jean nodded in agreement and walked inside with Calvin with difficulty.

"What happened, Jean?" Calvin noticed Jean's limp, moving towards her to support her.

"Nothing serious, just a sprained ankle," Jean said and smiled bitterly. "You'd better clean yourself up now! I'll be waiting for you outside."
