Chapter 203
After speaking, Mikayla was about to leave.
Just then, Taylor’s wicked voice sounded. “The bait has been cast, don’t you want to
reel it in?”
Mikayla halted her steps.
She gritted her teeth. “You set me up when you sent that message, didn’t you?”
Taylor shrugged nonchalantly. “Don’t say that. We’re benefiting each other.”
As they were talking, Irene restlessly got up and walked toward them.
“Taylor, can you sit over there? I want to have a few words alone with Ms. Davidson.
Taylor raised his eyebrows at her request. “What do you want to say to her? I’m warning you. If you dare lay a finger on her, I won’t forgive you even if your brother
steps in.”
Irene let out a pained expression. “Rest assured. Since you’re here, I can’t possibly
harm her.”
“You better keep your promise.” Taylor scoffed coldly before turning to Mikayla.
He said gently, “Don’t worry, I’ll be right over there. If you need anything, just call me.”
Mikayla rolled her eyes at him. She didn’t feel like responding to him.
As Taylor walked away, he glanced back at Mikayla occasionally.
Irene took a deep breath and said, “We meet again, Ms. Davidson.”
Her gaze was noticeably more determined than last time, as if she had already
accepted the reality of something.
Mikayla couldn’t bear to see her desolation, so she said bluntly, “Ms. Sullivan, Taylor was just speaking nonsense, don’t take it to heart.
“And, I lied to you last time. Taylor doesn’t like me at all. I was forced to come here today. If you like him, you can pursue him without worrying about me. I won’t be an
obstacle to your pursuit, so please don’t view me as your enemy.”
Hearing her words, Irene didn’t show any signs of surprise or any other expression.
“Ms. Davidson, I’m aware of your situation. I know you have a husband, and you don’t like Taylor. I also know that Taylor has caused trouble in your marriage, so much so that you and your husband are getting a divorce.”
What kind of findings were these? It was completely wrong.
Mikayla felt exhausted. “Ms. Sullivan, my divorce with Jerome has nothing to do with Taylor. I know there’s a deep–rooted conflict between Taylor and Jerome. They’ve always been at odds.”
Irene continued speaking, “Knowing Taylor’s personality, it’s surprising that he didn’t
take it out on you. Instead, he got close to you.”
Even though the timing wasn’t right, Mikayla couldn’t help but ask, “Do you know
what their conflict is?”
In her past life, they were business rivals. In this life, they couldn’t even see eye to
eye on anything.
Irene probably didn’t expect her to switch topics, so she reminded, “Ms. Davidson,
that’s not the point.”
But for Mikayla, that was exactly the point.
Mikayla guessed she couldn’t inquire anything more about this from Irene, so she asked, “Ms. Sullivan, have you ever thought of the possibility that Taylor is just using
me as an excuse to reject your marriage proposal?”
