Chapter 3 

In her previous life, Mikayla never got the chance to see her grandfather before he 

passed away. 

Given the chance to live again, she wanted to be by his side and was determined not to let her grandfather down. 

In light of her injuries, Mikayla refrained from temporarily visiting her grandfather. She suppressed her excitement and made plans to see him in a few days. 

After hanging up the phone, Mikayla sat on the terrace, reminiscing about her past life, 

At 18, she fell in love with Jerome because of his heroic rescue. The infatuated Mikayla tried every possible method to pursue him but couldn’t capture his heart. 

Upon Mikayla’s college graduation, Jerome’s grandmother, Wanda Davis, learned of her feelings and arranged for Jerome to marry her. 

Despite Jerome’s dislike for her, Mikayla still held onto the dream of winning his heart. 

However, six months into their marriage, Kylie returned from abroad and joined Jerome’s company. 

The exceptional bond they shared instilled a fear in Mikayla of losing Jerome. Nervous and desperate, she sought assurances from Jerome, but her efforts were in vain. 

Her suicide attempt only deepened Jerome’s relationship with Kylie, and he spent even 

less time at home. 

In despair, Mikayla decided to make one last effort. She sought help from Wanda to create an opportunity for her to be alone with Jerome abroad. 

Unexpectedly, Kylie became the victim of a home invasion on the eve of their departure. There was also an arson attempt, and she almost lost her life. The assailant claimed Mikayla had orchestrated the attack. 

This incident infuriated Jerome to no end. Despite her explanations, he insisted on sending her to prison. 

Thanks to her grandfather and Wanda’s intervention, Jerome spared her from going to jail. However, he insisted on sending her to a mental hospital for treatment, and that lasted for over two years. 

Mikayla couldn’t hold back her tears while contemplating the twists and turns of her past life. Every intricate, resentful, chaotic, and painful experience stemmed from her obsession with Jerome. 

This obsession of hers had ruined her life. 

Perhaps even the heavens couldn’t bear to watch, so they gave her a chance to start over. 

Currently, the relationship between Jerome and Kylie hadn’t reached its intense stage, and Mikayla hadn’t yet plunged into madness, 

None of those irrational events had happened. 

As long as she stayed away from them, she wouldn’t end up in a mental hospital, and she wouldn’t get cancer, 

Her life could start anew. 

Three days later, Mikayla had recovered quite well from the injuries caused by her suicide 

attempt. 

Her physical and mental states were completely stable. 

Jerome hadn’t shown up since the day he left with Kylie. 

In a surprising turn of events, Kylie in this life hadn’t been injured, and Jerome still 

hadn’t returned home. 

But Mikayla didn’t care. She had already decided to end this misguided marriage with Jerome. From now on, they would go their separate ways. 

Mikayla dialed Jerome’s number. The phone rang for a long time. No one answered. 

She almost forgot that Jerome avoided her calls to prevent any entanglement. 

Mikayla then composed a short message and sent it.
