Chapter 60
Mikayla smiled, “The company has stagnated recently. If it weren’t for the
reputation associated with the Miller family, the situation would be even more embarrassing.”
Her uncle had been overly ambitious since he took over the company.
He replaced some senior executives with his trusted aides. It caused Minito’s development to decline year by year.
Fortunately, Eduard still commanded respect and influence, preventing the company from declining.
However, Eduard’s health was not great, and his energy couldn’t keep up.
Despite often advising her uncle, the effect was minimal.
It wasn’t until last year, when she married Jerome that things started
improving.
Using the Miller family connection, her uncle signed several collaborations under the banner of being in–laws with the Miller family. The business finally
showed improvement.
“We can’t rely on the Miller family forever. It’s not a sustainable solution.”
Mikayla continued, “Although hiring a management team incurs some costs, their professionalism will undoubtedly bring in returns. Both you and Uncle Stephen will have less to worry about–doesn’t that sound great?”
Eduard was somewhat surprised by Mikayla’s understanding of business
matters.
“You have grown sensible. You analyze business affairs so well!”
“Grandpa, don’t tease me,” Mikayla pouted.
“Consider my suggestion.”
Eduard couldn’t resist his granddaughter’s pleading.
“Alright, you do make some sense. I’ll discuss it with your uncle in the next few
days.
“I knew you would be the most reasonable!” Mikayla happily exclaimed.
“Make sure to convince Uncle!”
Eduard gently tapped Mikayla’s forehead.
“Alright, I’ll try. But why are you suddenly concerned about the family business? Wasn’t your focus always on that young man, Jerome?”
“As you said, I’ve grown up!”
Mikayla leaned into Eduard’s side and whispered, “I want to protect you and the things you care about.”
In the previous life, after she was admitted to the psychiatric hospital, Eduard passed away not long after.
Jerome couldn’t sustain the company, and by the time of her suicide, Minito was on the verge of collapse. Minito was Eduard’s pride, and Mikayla didn’t
want to see it ruined.
So, she hoped to use a professional management team to bring the company
back on track.
“Oh, Mikayla is here!”
A luxuriously dressed woman interrupted the warm conversation between them. Mikayla looked up. It was her aunt, Matilda.
Stephen and Matilda rarely returned to Eduard’s place in the suburbs.
Mikayla wondered what brought her back today.
“Aunt Matilda,” Mikayla politely greeted.
Matilda’s smile was somewhat exaggerated.
“Mikayla is a good girl indeed. You’ve come to accompany Eduard without reason. The old man dotes on you the most!”
Eduard did indeed dote on her more than on her cousin. As a result, Matilda never liked her much.
Still, due to Eduard’s authority, Matilda didn’t dare express her displeasure too
openly.
Ignoring Matilda’s sarcasm, Mikayla coquettishly said, ‘Grandpa, it’s getting dark outside, so I’ll head back now.”
Eduard nodded lovingly.
“Sure, drive safely.
“I just arrived. Why are you leaving?”
Matilda stopped Mikayla.
“Wait a moment, take this with you.”
Matilda handed Mikayla an exquisitely packaged box.
“This is top–grade wild ginseng that I spent a fortune on. Take it back for Jerome’s health.”
So, Matilda had visited with a purpose.
