"I laughed at Maddox and Daphne. They are just jokes in this lifetime..."
A joke that had been played on for half a lifetime.
...
The Riddle's building.
After Maddox openly supported Manny to represent the second branch in the power struggle, many people within the Riddle family who were previously undecided became agitated and looked at Leon and then at Manny, causing many to sway in their thinking.
Leon noticed the fluctuating thoughts of the group and sneered, retracting his gaze.
Manny stepped forward with a malicious glint in his eyes and looked at Hattie, his lips curved with a smile, "Since no one objects, let's begin."
Hattie clenched her fists in response to the venomous look in the woman's eyes.
She looked at the arrogant and malicious faces behind Manny and her eyes showed sharp coldness.
Just then, her phone in her pocket suddenly vibrated.
Hattie lowered her head to look at it and her pupils suddenly contracted upon seeing what was on the screen.
She immediately raised her head and stared at Manny across from her.
Manny sat dignified in his chair, his pale face curved with a malicious smile, whispering something to Hattie with his lips.
Hattie's slender body began to sway.
She glanced at Leon, who was watching the board vote calmly, and quietly stood up, moving stealthily towards the back.
Hattie's body tensed as she retreated all the way to the door, then turned around and rushed out.
Everyone's attention was focused on the upcoming shareholder vote, and no one noticed Hattie's departure.
Even Selena, who was watching the live broadcast, didn't notice Hattie's disappearance, as directed by Manny.
Manny watched as Hattie's figure disappeared at the door, licked her lips and smiled, her eyes full of malice.
Hattie left the conference room and took the elevator to the first floor. She didn't go through the main door, but turned to the side fire exit and came to an inconspicuous side door.
The side door was locked, but because it was a black railing lock, the small and slender Hattie could barely squeeze through by tilting her body.
Hattie had been practicing dance since she was young and had great flexibility. She carefully crawled out from inside.
Hattie was about to hail a taxi after leaving the Riddle's building when a hand suddenly reached out from behind and grabbed her collar, pulling the young girl back.
"Where are you going--"
The cold voice abruptly stopped upon seeing Hattie's tear-streaked face.
Fraser furrowed his brow and spoke more slowly, "What's wrong?"
Hattie's face was full of anger as she murmured, "I want to kill him... kill him..."
Fraser realized that something was wrong and took her phone from her hand. There was a picture on it: a newly excavated box with a dark black color and fresh soil on it...
Fraser instantly recognized what it was and his expression changed accordingly.
There was a message below it:
"If you want to get your mother's ashes back, go to XX hospital. If I don't see you within half an hour, I will destroy it! Remember, you must come alone! If I see you bring anyone else, I will destroy it immediately!"
Fraser took a deep breath and suppressed his anger in his chest, speaking with the softest voice he could muster, "This is a trap. If you go, you might not come back..."
Hattie looked up, her eyes red and frightening from the tears, "They killed my mother, dug up her grave, and even took her ashes away..."
