Selena smiled faintly, "Thank you." After speaking, she nodded and walked forward with the cake in hand without changing her expression.
The voice of a young woman came from behind, "I have a disobedient subordinate who committed a sin in the capital city. I'm here to take him back."
Selena didn't turn around, only asked, "Did your subordinate commit a serious offense?"
"Very serious," the woman's voice seemed helpless but also carried a hint of gentleness. "He angered two very troublesome people... a headache-inducing fellow."
"Well then if he's caught it's not unjust," Selena spoke gently but firmly. "Everyone should pay for their sins. If it's not them then it will be someone they care about because no one can escape punishment."
The woman laughed.
Selena clearly heard a hint of dominance in her tone.
"As long as you have enough power, wrong can become right and anything you want can be obtained," the woman's voice entered Selena's ears along with footsteps that gradually faded away. "Until now, haven't you understood this truth?"
The last sentence dissipated into the wind and did not fall into Selena's ears.
After being silent for a moment, Selena smiled again. "Power certainly brings many things but it also pushes some more important things further away."
Is power important?
Very much so; otherwise why would most humans flock to it like moths to light?
"For those who sacrifice their conscience, humanity, emotions freedom happiness just to climb higher... they will eventually lose everything and gain nothing."
