In the evening, the team stopped by a small stream. Selena sat on a rock, dipping her handkerchief into the water, wetting and wringing it out to wipe Hattie's face. The little girl had walked all day and even though she had good endurance, she was still tired. But she gritted her teeth and didn't complain.
Yasmin walked over, put the food she had gathered into Hattie's hand, patted her on the head, and then walked away. Hattie washed an apple and handed it to Selena, then took the rest and passed them to the people nearby.
Selena took a bite of the apple and saw the main team huddled together, staring at the freshly drawn map, obviously discussing the next plan. She listened for a while, swallowed the last bite of the apple, washed her hands, and stood up.
She walked over and said in a calm voice, "Dragging out the battle is very painful, both for you and the other side. It's the most boring way to fight. In a real battle, you can lose, but you can't fight without any pleasure. If we continue like this, both sides will be exhausted within three days. Fighting at that point will be no fun, and the end result will certainly not make anyone happy!"
Two sentences instantly drew everyone's attention again. Perhaps it was because of what had happened before that made these young people realize that Selena was not just a decorative vase, or maybe it was because her expression was too natural that no one felt anything wrong with her overstepping her boundaries.
Kevin looked into her eyes and asked, "Miss Turner, what do you mean?"
Selena smiled and said, "The purpose of Union University organizing this practical combat is for you to experience the meaning and passion of war, not to be a foil for the research institute. You are the protagonists, don't get things backward."
"For you, there is no winning or losing in this game in essence. The first one to be eliminated is not necessarily the loser, and the last one to be eliminated is not necessarily the winner."
"The final outcome of this war will definitely be a big melee!"
The atmosphere suddenly quieted for a moment. Kevin's eyes lit up suddenly, and he stared at her, "So... we can attack actively without worrying about the task?"
Selena met the other's gaze without prejudice, her eyes deep. "Why not? Are you willing to give up the passion and dream of being a man just to help the research institute shine?"
"Wait a minute!" Yasmin spoke up for the first time. "There's a girl here too!"
"Sorry, I forgot," Selena nodded in agreement. "The passion and dreams of young people!"
That's definitely not possible!
Richard frowned, "But little sister, you're also from the research institute. If we don't put the task first and end up losing, what will you do?"
Selena waved her hand casually. "It's fine. The old folks at the research institute don't like me and didn't give me a spot. I came to play. Winning or losing means nothing to me."
Everyone was stunned.
[Real life is tough for Selena!]
"This is too unfair, right? Diana won and can enter the sixth district, but this Selena won and got nothing?"
"The research institute is so ugly. They treat Miss Turner from the Turner family like this?"
"Don't be ridiculous. Diana is the best mechanic in H Country. What does Miss Turner have? It's normal for the research institute not to give her special treatment, right?"
...
Inside the research institute, hearing Selena's words, most of the senior officials' faces turned black.
Isn't this openly damaging the reputation of the research institute?
But unfortunately, what the other said was the truth. They were in the wrong, and there was no way to refute it.
Freddie squinted his eyes and suddenly regretted putting Selena in there.
