Chapter 15 

Lilac was not sure what this alpha was up to, but she didn’t interject, since they were sitting in the seat of honor. There were seven alphas, including their lunas, which meant, there were fourteen seats and Lilac was the only one that was not a luna, she held no significant status, thus it was an honor to be there. 

However, Lilac would rather sit on the d*rty kitchen than to be here and feel the tension, she knew luna Jasmine had been stolen a glance at her, as she wanted to know how she could end up with alpha Hunter, but Lilac pretended not to see that. 

She didn’t want to deal with that at this moment, because it was too much and she was being overwhelmed right now. 

Therefore, Lilac sat there silently, didn’t say anything, lowering her head, so she didn’t need to engage with unnecessary question and let Hunter to do the talking. 

“Because Golden Claw pack doesn’t provide me and my people someone to guide us within the pack, so I feel fortunate enough for Lilac’s kindness for being so willing to do this inconvenient favor for me, Hunter said lightly, as if he was talking about the weather, while praising Lilac and insulting alpha James at the same time. 

After hearing what Hunter said, the atmosphere became even thicker, it was so uncomfortable to say the least and Lilac kept kicking his feet under the table, so he could stop with his sarcasm, since it wouldn’t do any good for her in the aftermath of this meeting. 

At this point, what the different between her was being reported for hurting alpha Hunter with this exact moment? She was doomed either way… 

However, alpha James wouldn’t falter with this small dispute that Hunter tried to raise, he was a veteran alpha, who had a lo to experience of exchanging underline words, as he could read between the line just fine. 

“My apologize for the inconvenience, alpha Hunter, This is my mistake for not preparing everything carefully and cause trouble for you, since I thought you will not get lose in our pack. I heard a rumor, months ago when your father still led the war that you managed to get all the packs‘ layout, so I am sure you will not get lost inside our gate.” 

The way alpha James turned the table was so smooth, as he reminder them mildly about the offense that Hunter’s father had committed before he was killed by Aiden. 

The other five alphas went silent, as they smiled lightly and sipped their drink. They let alpha James and Hunter to show their craftiness in throwing underlying insults. 

It shouldn’t be the main topic of this meeting, but it was alpha James, who had started it when he asked about Lilac’s presence and how Hunter shouldn’t have included her there. There was an insult mixed in his words when he mentioned the fact that Lilar was his son’s destined mate. 

It started from there. 

Thankfully, luna Jasmine was tactful enough, she could balance the situation and deescalate this meaningless conversation to bring it back to the main problem. 

“Why don’t we drink to celebrate the peace that finally returns to our land?” Luna Jasmine said in her cheerful and charismatic voice. She smiled at her mate and poured a wine on his glass, while the other.

Hunter kicked her leg under the table this time and nodded at his empty glass, indicating for Lilac to pour the wine for him too. 

He was insane if he thought she would do that. There was no way Lilac would oblige to do so. It was not her job. 

Yet, Hunter had predicted that and he didn’t mind to do it for her, as he took the wine bottle and poured the liquid into her glass, which made all the people frowned with his action. 

“You shouldn’t have done that, alpha Hunter, let Lilac do it,” luna Ariel said, she was the luna of the Glory Moonlight pack, she looked so beautiful in her yellow dress and black, long hair that cascaded down her back. 

“She is not my luna, luna Ariel, but even if she is, I don’t mind to spoil my woman,” Hunter replied casually and took the glass, as he handed it to Lilac. “This is my gratitude for being so willing to accompany me today.” 

“We just met less than three hours ago, don’t say today, since it sounded like a long time! 

Lilac grumbled, but she couldn’t voice out her grievances, since she didn’t want to stir trouble for herself for ruining this game for Hunter.
