Louis walked to the balcony and picked up the call. 

As soon as the call connected, the person on the other end said, “Mr. Smith, I’ve found out what you asked me to investigate.” 

“Really?!” Louis’s face showed a hint of joy. 

However, in the next second, he heard the person on the other end says, “In order to investigate Miss Grey, I’ve suffered heavy losses, so you have to pay more!” 

A hint of mockery appeared on Louis’s handsome face. 

Whether the loss was real or not, in his eyes, it was just an excuse for the investigator to raise the price. 

“Tell me, how much do you want?” Louis said calmly. 

The speaker on the phone seemed to be waiting for Louis to say this. Without any hesitation, he blurted out, “400 thousand dollars!” 

“This is daylight robbery!” Louis’s face suddenly darkened. “Besides, why should I pay you extra before getting the information I need!” 

“Mr. Smith, in our line of work, trust is important. Of course, if you don’t believe me, I can’t do anything about it. I can only hand over the information I’ve collected to others,” the speaker said calmly. “I’ve been following Miss Grey for more than half a month. I guess Mr. Smith will regret it for the rest of your life if you miss this chance…” 

“Wait!” Louis was afraid that the investigator would hang up the phone, so he scolded coldly, “See you tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at Midnight Cafe. I’ll pay you cash on delivery!” 

“Since Mr. Smith is so straightforward, I’m surely happy to cooperate.” The investigator smiled and said, “We’ll meet at ten tomorrow morning.” 

After hanging up, Louis returned to the dining room. 

However, after eating, he made up an excuse to get up and leave. 

Richard had expected Louis to react like this, so he wasn’t in a hurry. 

However, when Olivia saw Louis leaving so decisively, she felt a faint sense of unease in her heart. 

She quickly chased after him after grabbing a thin jacket. “Louis.” 

Louis stopped in his tracks. The coldness in his eyes receded slightly as he said indifferently, “What are you doing outside of the house?” 

Olivia was wearing a moon–white dress with a champagne–colored shawl over her 

shoulders. She stood in front of him in her slippers and leaned against his chest. 

Her eyes glinted as she put on a gentle but playful smile. “You drank just now. I was worried about you.” 

“It’s cold at night. Come on, head back inside quickly,” Louis said. 

Olivia allowed herself to be pushed backward and took a step back, but accidentally stepped on a stone and felt her body falling backward without warning.
