Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 34

Betrayal At The Altar By Dolores Delia Chapter 34

“Tom, what are you looking at?” Adrian asked as he followed Tom’s gaze. However, he did not see anything.

Tom frowned slightly and said, “When we pick up Rae–Rae later, you can take her to the Smith Group.”

“Okay,” Adrian said.

When the two of them appeared in the hospital room, Rachel could not help but feel surprised. “Why did you guys come?” she asked.

“I was worried you couldn’t handle it alone,” Adrian said, taking the things that Rachel was holding.

“I can handle it myself,” Rachel said, looking at the two tall men in front of her. “You guys are busy. You didn’t need to come to pick me up.”

“Even if something big happens, it’s still not as important as you,” Adrian said.

Upon hearing his words, a warm feeling flowed through the depths of Rachel’s heart.

She turned her gaze to the silent Tom and noticed that her uncle was unusually quiet. “Did something happen in the family?” she thought.

She directed her gaze at Adrian.

Adrian shrugged slightly, indicating that he was also clueless.

After leaving the hospital, Rachel went straight to the entrance of the Smith Group building.

Rachel walked into the building holding a resignation letter she had prepared.

The gazes of all the people looking at her were very surprised.

As she walked, people whispered and gossiped about her, saying things like, “I heard that our CEO, Mr. Smith, abandoned his bride on their wedding day. Why does she still have the dignity to show up here?”

“She can’t help it. She comes from a rural background. If a plain Jane wants to increase her social status, she needs to have a bit of tolerance, right?”

After all, in their eyes, besides a pretty face, Rachel seemed to have no other strengths. Some even thought that Louis must have been under a spell when he decided to bring Rachel into the company.

However, to their surprise, within just one year of Rachel joining the Smith Group, she had managed to turn the struggling company around and successfully attracted a new batch of investors.

After that, she led the team to introduce the brand concept of “rural vacation” and established the first domestic chain of boutique hotels under the brand name Horale, which helped the Smith Group establish a foothold in the market.

From then on, the directors of the company went from looking at Rachel with skepticism and disdain to genuinely admiring and appreciating her.

Sitting with his legs crossed in the main seat, Louis looked at Rachel with

a hint of anger and gloom on his face. “Since you’re here, please give our directors a reasonable explanation for the sudden withdrawal of

investment from the Green family,” he said.

The cold voice was as icy and piercing as water under a glacier. It lowered the temperature of the entire conference room.
