Chapter 400 

Rachel stared at him without blinking for a moment. Suddenly, her red lips curled into a smile, and the depths of her almond–shaped eyes flickered. “David, you’re really strange…” 

He would never ask what had happened, but he could always see through her thoughts and easily reveal her true emotions at this moment. 

She thought that she had hidden it well, but every time she faced him, she was like a person with no secrets. 

Swallowing her sadness and the pain of her slightly twisting heart, she leaned forward against his chest. “I’m fine. Really.” 

However, Lily’s appearance caught her off guard. 

“I’ll let you lean on my shoulder for a while.” David reached out and stroked her slender back as if he was comforting an injured child. 

In fact, from the moment Lily appeared, he had already sensed Rachel’s abnormality. However, as a bystander, he could not empathize with her. All he could do was silently accompany her. 

Rachel looked up at him. Her expression was calm, but there was a smile hidden in the corners of her eyes. “Just for a while?” 

“If you want, you can do it for a lifetime.” 

“No regrets?” 

“No regrets!” David pulled her into his arms again and hugged her tightly. His deep and cold voice was tinged with sexy laziness as it rang in her ears. “I’ll be Rae–Rae’s man in this life, and I still love Rae–Rae after I die.” 

Rachel leaned against his neck obediently and could not help but smile. 

Her palm on his chest could clearly feel his vigorous and powerful heartbeat. 

She had always thought that the appearance of David was a rose blooming in the desolation in her heart. 

However, now it seemed that he was not only the rose that lured her into love but also the antidote to her salvation. 

Ten minutes later, the two of them left the restaurant. 

When they left, Hans and the others walked out of the private room opposite. 

As he turned around, he inadvertently caught a glimpse of Rachel’s exceptionally eye–catching face from the corner of his eye. He frowned imperceptibly. 

Was that Rachel? 

Why was she here? 

His gaze turned and landed on David. 

Who was this man? 

As he was thinking, he heard Louis say, “Mr. Grey, if there’s nothing else, we’ll take our leave first.” 

“Alright.” Hans quickly came back to his senses and revealed a fake smile. 

After sending off Louis, Hans looked at his daughter, Lily. “Lily, what do you think of Mr. Smith?” 

The meaning behind his words was self–evident. 

To be fair, Louis’s family background and appearance were indeed many times better than those playboys who only enjoyed eating, drinking, and having fun. 

Unfortunately, she was not interested in Louis. 

“Dad, Miss Cruise and Mr. Smith are about to get engaged,” Lily said. “And…” 

She quickly glanced at Hans. “And I heard from Miss Cruise that Rachel had been in a relationship with Mr. Smith for a period of time.” 

Her words were ambiguous. Coupled with her obscure and complicated expression, it was easy for Hans to think in the wrong direction. 

Hans frowned and his expression darkened. “What a disgraceful b*stard! She’s really going to embarrass our Grey family!”
