Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 480

Chapter 480

“Hi, Rachel.” Jimmy Shain greeted Rachel Grey warmly as he sat next to her.

But at the same time, he was worried that others would notice something amiss, so he could only lower his voice.

However, everyone else seemed to have misinterpreted this.

Especially Old Mr. Johnson and Old Mr. Shain who looked at each other as a faint smile flashed across their eyes at once.

Rachel held a knife and fork as she slowly sliced the mushrooms on her plate. She asked, “Just you alone?”

Jimmy replied, “I asked David before but he said that he wasn’t interested.”

Hearing this, Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly and commented, “It’s indeed quite boring.”

Seeing that the two of them were chatting happily, Old Mr. Johnson commented aptly, “Rae-Rae, you and Mr. Shain seem to hit it off quite well.”

Rachel looked up at Old Mr. Johnson. Noticing his expression, her eyebrows twitched as she put down the knife and fork in her hand and was about to explain. However, the head of the Chamber of Commerce, Sam Turner, rushed over and announced, “Everyone, a distinguished guest has arrived!”

A distinguished guest?

Could it be the one from the Jones family from Aureliana?

The respective heads of the Four Families looked at each other and stood up in unison.

“Was there supposed to be any other distinguished guest today?”

“Not that I know of, but since the Four Families seem to respect the person so much, it must be someone important.”

“I heard that a special invitation would be sent out every Chamber of Commerce. I’ve heard that the person they invited is a mysterious big shot!”

A group of young socialites was discussing the mysterious guest, but at the same time, they were also busy touching up their makeup.

Compared to them, Rachel appeared to be exceptionally calm.

She looked at Jimmy and asked in a low voice, “Didn’t you say that he wasn’t coming?”

“He did say that he wouldn’t be coming,” Jimmy replied.
