Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 729

Chapter 729

“Miss Grey, you’re a gifted and intelligent woman. You already have an answer, right?” Mr. Davies played with the cup in his hand and glanced at Rachel. “All the coincidences are just deliberately made.”

He threw the question back to Rachel.

Mr. Davies’s attitude right now indirectly confirmed Rachel’s guess.

Her mother’s photo, the old friend that Mr. Davies had mentioned repeatedly, and Mr. Davies’s current attitude seemed to be guiding Rachel in a certain direction.

As a player in this “game”, she did not know where she was heading or what she was going to be faced with.

It was as if she had been forcefully given a mission and pushed forward passively by a pair of hands behind her back. This gave her a deep sense of powerlessness.

“Mr. Davies, what you said to me in Moon Pavilion left a deep impression on me. It’s not that I’m gifted and intelligent, but it’s all thanks to Mr. Davies’s advice.” Rachel shifted the topic to Mr. Davies again.

She looked up at Mr. Davies with a calm gaze. “To be honest, I came here today to ask you something”

When Mr. Davies heard this, he smiled slightly. “There are some things in this world that need to be dug out by yourself instead of letting other people tell you what they are.”

Rachel frowned and coldness mounted up in the depths of her eyes.

Back then, he was kind enough to give the diamond to her and he only asked her to come here to have coffee with him so that she could have an excuse to come and talk to him.

However, she did not expect that Mr. Davies would not talk about that ‘old friend’ even when she came to visit. Since that was the case, why did he give her the excuse to come to his house back then?!

“Everyone says that the greater the ability, the greater the responsibility. I think that no matter how great the ability is, everyone has their own responsibility. Mr. Davies’s words carried the gentleness of an elder. He said slowly, “Everything in the world has its own fate. When it’s time to know the truth, it will naturally surface. Instead of insisting on investigating, it’s better to let nature take its course.”

Rachel curled her lips and lowered her eyes to hide the emotions in them. “It’s better to face the difficulties head-on than to let nature take its course.”

She didn’t like the feeling of being controlled by others.

Since she had entered the game, instead of being played by others, it was better to break the rules and create her own rules. Mr. Davies’s eyes flashed slightly as he looked at Rachel with a complicated expression on his face.

Soon, he calmed himself down, and in the blink of an eye, he smiled gently towards her. “Everything is about opportunities. Not telling you the truth now is actually a way of protecting you, isn’t it?”

“Miss Grey, just remember that no matter what happens, the Davies family will never stand against you.”

His casual words were powerful and carried great meanings.

Rachel’s heart sk ip ped a beat. She suddenly looked up at Mr. Davies, her eyes filled with probing.

If they easily made such a heavy promise to a stranger, the Davies family would not be worthy of being one of the most prestigious families.

Therefore, all of this was ultimately because of her relationship with Aureliana.

Or perhaps it was because of the ‘old friend’ that Mr. Davies mentioned.

Rachel thought that she would be able to find the answer here, but now, it made her even more uneasy.

When she left, there was a deep frown between her eyebrows, like a cloud that could not be dispelled.

Mr. Davies took a deep breath as he watched the two of them leave.

He took out an empty cup and made another cup of coffee. He said casually, “She’s already gone Why aren’t you coming

out?”

As soon as he finished speaking, a person slowly walked out from behind the gold-embedded screen behind Mr. Davies. The man was wearing a black suit. His snow-white hair was meticulously styled, and his sun-kissed skin perfectly matched his overwhelming aura.

Although he was almost 80 years old, his gaze was like an eagle’s and he was quite energetic One could vaguely see the sharpness of his youth.

The man was the head of the Cook family, Andrew Cook, who had not appeared in public for a long time.

Unlike the other families, the Cook family was a martial family. As the head of the family, Mr. Cook was the inheritor of ancient combat skills.

Mr. Davies played with the cup in his hand as he looked up at the man. “What do you think?”

Andrew looked in the direction where Rachel left. When he heard this, his eyes met Mr. Davies’s. “Have you heard of a saying?”

“What?”

The man walked to the window and looked up at the trees that were rustling in the wind. He sighed slightly and said slowly. “One day, when the tiger returns to the mountain, blood will definitely be shed and stain the sky red.”

His deep and hoa rse voice was powerful and intimidating.

Mr. Davies was a bit stunned.

He glanced at the man beside him with a meaningful smile. “It’s been a long time since I’ve heard you speak so highly of

someone.

“This girl might really be able to break the current balance,” Andrew said. “It’s just that her existence must have made people want to get rid of her.”

A hint of mockery appeared in Mr. Davies’s eyes. “Some people have been messing around recklessly with no consequences for so long over the years. It’s time to let them have a taste of what it feels like to have a sword hanging above their heads.” Hearing this, Andrew glanced at Mr. Davies.

They both smiled significantly as their eyes met.

At the same time, the car drove towards the Peckham Palace.

David’s palm landed on Rachel’s sore waist and massaged it with moderate strength.
