Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 299

For the past two days, Matias had been monitoring Daniel's movements closely.

When he learned that Daniel and Yvette had walked out of Regal Retreats together, he frowned.

"Mat, are we just going to let this go?" Cason refused to accept the situation.

Matias shot him a look. "And what else would you have us do? The Winters family is not someone we can afford to offend, and don't forget that guy is a martial artist!"

"So what if he's a martial artist! I heard there are ongoing conflicts within the Winters family, and Aaden had openly declared that he wants the Daniel guy dead!" Cason muttered under his breath.

Matis narrowed his eyes at him. "Oh, so you've been keeping up with the news, haven't you?"

Cason failed to pick up the sarcasm in his tone. Instead, he grinned and said, "This has been all over the place for a while now!"

Then, he wiggled and said, "If Daniel gets taken out, that chick…"

"Can you think about anything else for once?" Matias looked at him in exasperation and waved a hand. "Fine, I'll check out what's going on. Just remember: don't mess with that guy without my orders!"

His men nodded. From their last encounter, they realized Daniel was a martial artist and not someone they could handle.

They might be thugs, but they were no fools. Offending a martial artist was no different from seeking death!

Though Matias wasn't a martial artist, he'd built a reputation for himself in Magden. Plus, Aaden had been unusually active lately, so it wasn't difficult tracking the latter down.
