Betrayed, But Not Defeated novel Chapter 300

Matias knew about the mess within the Winters family all too well. Though Aaden openly criticized Yvette, the truth was that he wasn't capable of taking over the Winters family.

Of course, none of that concerned Matias. He was only interested in seeing if he could take advantage of the situation.

"You're right, Mr. Winters. Every year, a few come storming into Magden and threaten to take over, but they either get thrown out or learn to behave. There's never been an exception," he said with a smile.

Aaden turned around. "Let me get straight to the point, Mr. Corbin. I've arranged for someone to deal with Daniel, but there are smaller matters that need help from someone like you."

"And what would that be?" Matias didn't reject the idea outright and probed further instead. This was exactly the opportunity he was searching for.

"My investigations show Daniel has deep roots in Qranross, but honestly, no intimidating figure could come out of that backwater place. He's probably used to being a big fish in a small pond and thinks he can throw his weight around in Magden."

Aaden narrowed his eyes and continued, "We should teach him a lesson since he has the guts to come here."

"You mean…" Matias raised an eyebrow.

Aaden chuckled and pulled out a stack of documents. "There are details of Daniel's businesses. Ashcroft Corporation is something, and we'll leave that aside. I want you to cause trouble for Geller Cosmetics."

Aaden sneered. "The owner, Charlene Geller, has a close relationship with Daniel. And as you know, people are blind when they fall in love.

"As an uncle, I can't stand by and watch Yvette fall into a fire pit and get cheated on by some jerk." He put on a look of helpless concern.

Matias watched Aaden's reaction and couldn't help giving the latter applause deep in his heart. With such acting skills, it'd be a crime if Aaden didn't win an award.

If Yvette were literally standing at the edge of a fire pit, Aaden would undoubtedly be the first to push her in. Yet here he was, putting on a show of heartbreak and sorrow. Anyone who didn't know better might actually get fooled!
