Luca’s POV
I didn’t return home that night, didn’t sleep a wink either. Instead, I had been trying everything possible in other to find my brother, and James was beside me throughout. The thought of going back home to Sofia just wasn’t sitting right with me yet, and that was because I wasn’t sure of how I was going to reach to her yet. I was yet to fully digest the fact that she had thought I was going to hit her.
How could she even think that? I asked myself quietly as different images flashed through my mind, all containing moments of Sofia looking stunning as hell, while some contained moments of her sobbing and flinching away from me. There was just something not sitting right about that whole thing, but I wasn’t going to think about that for now.
Which was one of the reasons why I had decided to not go home that night. It was the first time I wasn’t going to arrive home that night since I got married to Sofia, it was the first time in a really long time that I was this busy about anything related to the mafia lifestyle.
My mafia was the most organized mafia in the whole of Italy. It was the most powerful, most popular and most feared mafia, because of the reputation I had set down, and definitely not because of what I had done and was still doing in the mafia – because if I was being honest, I barely do things related to the mafia unless it was really necessary.
The lifestyle was so dangerous and could be really tiring. Coupled with the fact that I have a whole lot of enemies, and I had inherited most of them from my father.
The note which had been found in the second dead end we had gotten, was placed on a different spot on the table I was currently staring down at. I’ve read that note too much to be able to know the number written on it offhand.
When the conference call got set up by my men and the number had been dailed, as soon as the call had been answered on its first ring, it had automatically started being recorded and also tracked. The first thing the voice behind the phone said, was to tell me not to bother recording or tracking the call because it was going to be a waste of time, which was one more proof for me to know that this person was indeed someone in the mafia as well.
The first thing I did was to confirm if my brother was alright and very much alive. The voice behind the phone claimed he was, but he refused to allow me hear his voice myself, which angered me so much, but it wasn’t like there was much I could do. When I kept demanding to listen to my brother’s voice before talking about anything else, the voice threatened to kill Armani if I refused to communicate with them, and that did it.
Turns out the person had known Armani had been out of the states for years, and had been keeping a tab on him, and had also followed him back to Italy. The person went on about how he made sure Armani was already reunited back with me before making a move, because if he had made a move when Armani was still in the states, thzt who was going to come to his rescue like how fast I had done.
After asking the voice of how he knew of the said diamond thzt he was requesting for, the voice decleared that the diamond belonged to his family before my father had stolen it from his, and so he wanted it back. I found that really absurd and knew thzt there was no way he was going to be getting any diamonds from me, but I acted like I was going to do just that.
