I blinked up at Ryan in confusion. His grip on my wrist was firm, and he was standing very close to me that he’d have done on a normal day, hence my confusion.
My mouth parted and moved, but nothing came forth at first, and to my confusion, Ryan took a slow step towards me, making me feel almost closed in.
His other hand came into my line of sight and I watched as he reached out, aiming for my face. Before I could do anything, his thumb was brushing against my hairline, and after a few fleeting seconds, it came off with paint stained on it.
“You’ve got paint up here as well.” He said while waving the paint stained finger in my face. I blinked at it while my brain reeled, it took a few seconds for my brain to finally register what he had said.
“Oh.” I mumbled as he nodded his hand once again.
I glanced down at my wrist which was still engulfed by his hand, and in a fleeting moment, his grip loosened from my wrist as he took a step backwards, creating a little distance between us.
“Did you want to tell me something?” I asked after a moment, still feeling a little bit confused, because I could have sworn that he had been about to tell me something when he had held my hand some time ago.
He remained frozen for a few moments before finally nodding his head in response.
I knew I was right.
“Oh? What’s it about?” I asked after that, but he shook his head as he took another step backwards.
“I don’t remember what I had been about to say any longer.” He confessed, an abashed, almost shy expression crossing his face at that moment.
I felt a giggle bubble out of my throat as I made to speak.
“Oh, that’s not a problem, it happens to me as well.” I reassured him and he offered me a little smile that warmed my heart.
“I heard that’s a sign of stress, be sure to reduce the stress you go through, that usually works for me.” I offered and he nodded his head once again.
“You can just come to me whenever you recollect what you had been about to tell me some time ago.” I offered as well and he offered me a thumbs up.
He turned around after that and made his way out of the workroom, pausing at the doorway to glance behind himself for a fleeting second. I waved at him, already expecting the nod before it came, right before he disappeared from my line of sight.
Once I was alone once again, I puffed out a deep breath and let my back collide softly with the wall.
My mind flashed back to the image of him holding my wrist in his hand. That was the closest physical contact Ryan has ever initiated, and I honestly hadn’t expected his hand to feel so warm around my wrist.
I wonder what it was that he had wanted to tell me.
Perhaps he finally wanted to open up to me about something about himself for once, but has chickened out at the last moment.
From all that I could gather about Ryan, he was someone who kept to himself so much, so of course, it had made me happy to know that he had felt comfortable around me enough to want to confide in me.
