Blind date turned proposal (Josie and Dexter) novel Chapter 1007

The extent of Josie's injury was difficult to determine. It wasn't minor, yet it wasn't excessively severe either. She had been bound for two days, her skin tender. The ropes had rubbed against her bones, creating a sight that was shocking to witness.

The doctor had advised her against spending long hours in front of the computer. In other words, half of her future was practically buried.

Upon hearing this, Josie's emotions became so complex that she found herself at a loss for words.

She had stayed in the hospital for a few days, during which only a few people visited, including Matthew, Mallory, and occasionally, Calvin.

Matthew mentioned that the plastic surgeon had already returned to Japrium. If it weren't for Matthew's sake, the surgeon would never have come forward to testify. Fortunately, his hospital was in Japrium, so his career wasn't greatly affected.

Most of the time, Josie would sit on the balcony, soaking up the sun. When winter arrived, she would often feel lethargic and occasionally smoke a cigarette to perk herself up.

Whenever Mallory saw her in that state, she would sigh. "Morgan has been waiting outside for three or four days now. Will you see him or not?"

Josie lazily opened her eyes, showing no particular interest. "Forget it."

Mallory sat across from her, observing her closely.

"To be honest, Morgan did everything he could for you. I heard that on the day of the wedding, he tirelessly searched for you. However, due to his unfamiliarity with the area, he had to comb through an entire back mountain before he found you. One can't really blame him. Even the attendants of the Olsen family didn't know about that place," Mallory said with curiosity, her hands cupping her face. "However, surprisingly, Dexter knew."

Josie's expression visibly stiffened when she heard Dexter's name.

Mallory continued relentlessly. "Honestly, how did he manage to arrive earlier than Morgan?"

Josie and Dexter shared a bond that had developed since childhood. As a result, Dexter knew many things that others were unaware of.

"He knew a shortcut," Josie replied. However, that was many years ago, when the two of them would often run between the Olsen Residence and Russell Mansion. The fact that he still remembered surprised Josie a bit.

"I simply suspected, but didn't confirm," Dexter replied.

"When was it?" She insisted on getting an answer.

Dexter had no choice but to answer, striving for accuracy. "When you were kidnapped, when there was a bomb in the car, you asked me to choose white."

Josie was somewhat taken aback. "Just from that sentence, you were able to guess?"

"Not just that." There were many more intricate details that he noticed.

Josie pushed him away, saying she wanted to sleep, then turned her body away. From that moment on, Dexter was never able to see her again.

Seeing that Josie still didn't seem in the mood to talk, Mallory changed the subject. "If you don't want to meet Morgan, what about Justin? This is the first time he has come to see you in these past few days. He must have something important."
