“Which port are they departing from?”
“Primus Port. They have hidden the goods inside the onions.
As Scott spoke those words, Josie happened to emerge from the bedroom. Her face was bare, and she was dressed in a simple nightgown, appearing gentle and serene. He hesitated for a moment before saying, “Sending Ms. Warren into battle on the ship? Wouldn't that be inappropriate?”
Josie turned his head, “Sergeant Buncho, is it that you lack confidence in me, or is it your colleagues you don't trust?”
Scott chuckled. “I am well aware of your capabilities, Ms. Warren. I'm just being cautious, just in case.”
Dexter never once lifted his head.
Leaning halfway against the foyer between the kitchen and the living room, Josie said, “I still have value to Arnold, so he wouldn't harm me. Under these circumstances, it's best if I go.”
After saying that, she glanced in the direction of Dexter, his expression unreadable, his emotions inscrutable. Only a bone-deep chill emanated from him.
Scott indicated his understanding, then turned his gaze toward Dexter and asked, “Mr. Russell, did you not rest well last night?”
Upon hearing this, a jolt of shock ran through Josie's heart.
Dexter simply retrieved a pack of cigarettes from under the table, broke the seal, and said, “Sergeant Buncho, please ask your colleagues in Wavery to call off the police dispatch.”
Scott was taken aback. “Why?”
He held a cigarette between his lips, gesturing toward Josie as he replied, “It would expose the undercover's identity.”
Josie pursed her lips, indeed, if Arnold knew about the police in Wavery, he would certainly suspect her.
Scott glanced at Josie, belatedly understanding what he meant. “Then I'll go back and report this. I'll communicate with my colleagues in Rivodia.”
“Don't do that. There's no need to alert them. I trust them,” Josie said.
Dexter had already lit his cigarette, his eyes indifferent. They both understood what it meant.
Once the news was leaked, it was highly likely to alert the enemy.
“In terms of strength and experience, I am the most qualified. If not me, then who? Who could protect Josie better than me?” Justin retorted.
Dexter slightly lifted his eyes, the azure depths fully revealed as he said, “There will be a suitable candidate.”
Josie's figure swayed slightly, not quite understanding. He first comforted Justin, “Grape needs someone to look after her at home, and there's also Paul. They can't do without you.”
Her gentle and calm approach finally improved Justin's mood. He gritted his teeth and told Dexter, “You better ensure she returns unharmed.”
Scott chuckled. “It seems you really care about your sister.”
Josie watched Justin leisurely, he was just like that, sharp-tongued but soft-hearted.
As he finished his cigarette, Larry arrived just in time. He hesitated at the door, waiting for the group to finish their discussion, appearing quite anxious.
It was not until Josie went to hold the just-awakened Grape that Larry hastily entered.
