Caroline felt like someone who had run away to avoid the complicated world. She didn’t want to 

think about the hardships caused by the trivial disputes of life.

Seeing that she didn’t resist, Kirk finally had the courage to lead her back to the hotel.

The two quietly stepped on the snow coating the street. They walked on the short road for over

half an hour.

After entering the hotel, Caroline felt the warm temperature hit her face. As if she had returned to

reality, she snapped out of her trance and jerked her hand away from Kirk.

Gwen, Sean, and Adrian, who were waiting in the lobby, came over when they saw them.

Gwen grabbed Caroline and glanced at Kirk. She asked, “Are you okay, Carol?”

“I’m fine.” Caroline looked down at the floor.

“Let’s go upstairs.”

“Okay.”

Gwen dragged Caroline away, leaving the three men behind in the lobby.

Adrian looked at Sean and asked, “Dr. Yates, can I talk to your friend privately?” He had just

learned from Gwen that Sean was a famed genius doctor

Sean glanced at Kirk worriedly before slowly walking to the door. He picked the right spot to wait.

From there, he could see everything going on in the lobby while giving them enough privacy.

Adrian was silent for a moment before saying, “You’re the luckiest man in the world.”

Kirk returned Adrian’s gaze. “I know.”

“Then, why did you hurt Caroline?” Adrian’s chest heaved in anger.

A hint of guilt appeared in Kirk’s eyes, and his anger diminished slightly. He pursed his lips and

didn’t defend himself.

Adrian became even more angry after seeing Kirk like this. He wanted to find his flaws and focus

on them to convince himself that he wasn’t worthy of Caroline.

Adrian asked, “Aren’t you going to defend yourself?”

Kirk looked at Adrian earnestly. “But if you want me to give up on her, I won’t. Over my dead body.”

Adrian’s body swayed slightly at his words.

When that happened, he would make Kirk understand the meaning of regret.

The two men silently looked at each other challengingly.

At this moment, Adrain’s assistant came over, dragging the suitcase. “Mr. Sorkin, the plane will be

taking off in an hour. It’s time for us to leave.”

Adrian looked at Kirk one last time before turning around to leave.

When he reached the door, he stopped and turned back to ask, “I still don’t know your name. Since

we’re going to be rivals, you should at least tell me your name, right?”

Kirk looked back at him and said, “You’ll find out eventually.”

Adrian frowned. He thought Kirk didn’t say anything because he was his love rival, so he didn’t
