They pressed their lips together as a few miles separated them. They stood face to face with their eyes glued to each other. Both of them were on guard and wore their serious looks.
The collision made the both of them realize just how strong their opponent was. Neither of them could defeat the other easily. With this in mind, they grew more and more cautious.
Although Sham had the capabilities to hit Ricky in an instant, he was moving too fast. As a result, he failed to gather enough power and wasn't able to harm Ricky who utilized the Nine-degree Body Refining Formula. It was no exaggeration to say that his attack was nothing more than a breeze sweeping over Ricky's face.
Ricky did not perform well either. Despite the fact that he could resist Sham's attack, it was the only thing he could do. He was unable to act fast enough and could not launch his own aggressive attack towards Sham. Merely defending the self wasn't supposed to be the ultimate purpose of this fight. Speed mattered a lot in the martial arts world. A little bit of lag would bring disaster to any warrior.
'So, this is what I lack, huh? Speed! After I'm done with you and once I get out of this place, I'll have to find myself some kind of method to learn how to move much faster. Otherwise, speed will remain to be my only weakness. That is not good for future cultivations, ' Ricky thought to himself discreetly.
'How could I possibly hit? Hmmm, this is definitely a big problem, '
he wondered as he squinted his eyes and furrowed his eyebrows. 'It seems that I have no choice but to use my other powerful methods. He must be thinking the same thing. He probably has already made up his mind to approach me and then concentrate on attacking me in order to overcome my Nine-degree Body Refining Formula.'
He was right. Sham was thinking the exact same thing. He figured that the only way to put a quick end to this fight was to dash towards his opponent and strike him closely. Otherwise, both of them would eventually get completely exhausted and even if he won in the end, he would become too weak to fight those who were keeping a close eye and ready to tear him apart once given the chance.
Sham was looking forward to beating up his opponent and claiming the victory. And so was Ricky. Both of them firmly believed that they would be the winner, so it was naturally that they wanted to get everything over with as soon as possible.
"It's time to slog it out!" the warriors who surrounded them began to whisper among themselves. Seized by excitement, they tried their best not to breathe heavily. They watched the battle very closely, eyes not moving at all. Missing any magnificent scene was the last thing they would like.
"I'm going to wave my soft-iron sword towards you. You better prepare for it. It will punch thousands of holes on your body. The Nine-degree Body Refining Formula, right? It shall disappear along with your body very soon!" Sham growled in a deep and malicious tone as his red eyes shone with ferocious light.
At the same time, he placed his soft-iron sword against his chest and was ready to fight.
"Oh, is that right? Why don't you try me!" Ricky teased back as his voice turned indifferent.
"Yes, sure. I promise you that this moment is going to be the last time you'll get to breathe in this world," Sham roared as he raised his voice.
He immediately channeled his power and strengthened it to its highest level. Consequently, a strong black spiritual energy emitted from his body. Everything looked awful.
This thick dark spiritual energy absorbed the killing intent that surrounded him. It grew bigger and bigger until finally, it split into eight blobs.
"Show me where you are, my Shadowy Replications!" Sham waved his hand up and down to summon his energy. As he shouted from the top of his lungs, he threw his spiritual energy towards the eight blobs. In the blink of an eye, they shaped themselves into the figure of Sham! Eight figures of Sham appeared! They were exactly the same in terms of strength and breath.
The only difference was that the eight of them had shallow bodies. They were nothing more than shadows, at least for the time being.
"You must be kidding me, man! This is the Shadowy Replication, a mysterious and evil cultivation method of the Endless Shadow! I guess he does live up to his title as the first talented slayer of the Endless Shadow. He just formed eight replications of himself!" the crowed exclaimed in disbelief. All of them were taken aback by Sham's powerful display of his strength.
"Yeah, eight. How incredible! This is really rare, isn't it? I've heard that the two deputy leaders of his organization, who are both middle spiritual kings, could only summon eight Shadowy Replications through all their years of continuous cultivation. You know, they've been practicing for more than centuries, yet forming eight shadows is the highest they could attain!" another one echoed.
"Oh, eight replications. Marvelous. Though they are not physically the same as the creator, they still share the same strength and the same mind. I'm pretty sure they are as powerful as four or five real versions of Sham. Ricky is in a lot of trouble now. It wouldn't be easy for him to survive this."
"Let's just wait and observe! I can't wait to see how he plans on fighting back! He might surprise us. You know, he's someone who never fails to surprise the people around him."
...
"Eight replications, huh? You know what? I'm feeling kind of flattered that you felt the need to create eight shadows just to deal with me," Ricky said as his face turned more serious. This was by no means a good sign. He definitely did not want to see eight copies of Sham in front of him.
"I hate to say it. But I must admit that you are incredibly strong. So I will no longer hold back nor hide any of my powers and methods in this fight against you. I utterly understand that it's quite difficult to deal with you. I will do whatever I can. Look, I am going to finish you right here and right now," Sham and his eight replications all said in unison.
Before the voice faded, eight drops of blood gushed out from between Sham's eyebrows. They then flew towards the eight replications and fused into their bodies. As a result, the shadows became much more physically solid and real. They were not as hollow as they used to be before absorbing his blood.
