"We're here to get our Miss." The man answered.
The woman felt a little confused. The girl said she was married, so why were they calling her Miss?
Kate, who was behind the door, when she heard the familiar voice; she felt her hand about to open the door shake violently.
"What the hell? How did they find her so soon?" Kate cursed in her heart. The pregnant girl saw how Kate's face turned pale suddenly.
Earlier, she was beaming with a smile; now, suddenly, she looks like she has lost her soul.
The girl walked to Kate. She peeked through the peephole and saw many armed people standing outside the door. When she saw it, she understood it was not a mere accident.
The girl lied to them, and she looked at Kate with a bit of anger. "What's going on? Why are there so many people?
They look dangerous. We helped you, but you threw us in trouble." The girl resounded since it was nighttime. The voice reached outside instantly.
The people from outside heard a voice; even though they didn't know what the person was saying, they were sure it was a girl's voice.
Dr. San looked at his men with a hint; they understood; they suddenly became violent and kicked on the gate.
Since they knew they might lose their life if they missed this chance, they didn't dare to use a gun because they didn't want to alert the people since they knew their enemies were around them.
The older woman understood from their action that the girl's life was in danger; they were not her family. So, instead, they came to get her. Otherwise, they wouldn't act like that.
Since the older woman spent all of her time in that deserted place, she could tell from people’s faces if they were kind people or not.
She returned to her house and saw her daughter scolding the girl. Kate just stood in front of the girl with a guilty expression. She knew she dragged them into her mess.
When the old lady entered, Kate already looked frightened. She knew she had no chance to escape.
The older woman felt her heartache when she saw the helpless expression on Kate’s face.
“Girl, I don’t know why you lied, but I know they are not good people, so that I will help you one more time. Now only God and you can decide your fate.”
The woman grabbed Kate’s hand and led her backward.
The people might not know how to get to the backyard since they were trying to break in from the front door. The pregnant girl looked at her mother with hesitation.
“Mom, what are you doing? What if these people hurt us if you help her escape this?
The girl grabbed her mother’s hand and refused to let go; she had lost her husband not before she just got pregnant.
So her mother and her child were the only reason for her life. She would let no one harm them, so since she knew these people were dangerous, she couldn’t help but feel her mother was inviting trouble to help an unknown girl.
The older woman looked at her heavily pregnant girl; actually, the girl was her daughter-in-law, but she never thought of her as one, always treating her as her daughter.
"Girl, can't you see she is trying to protect her child, which mother wouldn't, what she did?
Just tell us a white lie, that's all; you would do the same if you were in her situation, wouldn't you?" The woman questioned her daughter-in-law.
The girl felt just thinking someone would hurt her son. She finally realized why her mother was bent on helping an unknown girl. "But mom."
"If I can escape from here, I'll help you; I'll give your child everything and support that he will need in his life; I'm sorry for not telling you,
But I'm a queen of someone. Just help me get away; my king will protect him like a guardian." Suddenly, Kate looked at the girl and said in a firm voice. When she saw the hope,
The girl was stunned. She had mixed feelings after hearing Kate's promise.
The promise was too fanciful to be true.
The girl barely talked to them earlier, no matter what she said. She didn't reply, but now Kate said what moved the girl's heart.
From the moment Kate appeared, the girl knew this girl was not from an ordinary family like them.
Even though Kate's appearance was worse than a bagger's, the moment of dirtiness couldn't hide the truth from the girl's eyes.
She used to live in the city, but since her husband was from here, she followed him and moved back. They were poor, not fools.
The girl looked at Kate skeptically. "You are not lying?" The girl didn't believe it.
Kate had nothing with her to give to the girl as promised.
"I'll; I'm not lying; I'm from the Allen family; if you don't know, you can find out, but I have one more identity; I'm the wife of David Xiver,
So I'll never lie to those who saved and sheltered my son and me when we need it to stay alive." Kate's words had some weight.
The girl stopped talking, even though she didn't believe it. Finally, she decided not to question the girl. She never even believed in God. God snatched everything from her.
So she didn't want to believe in God anymore, but when it came to her child, she decided not to stop her mom. What if something good might happen to her child to help a submerged person?
"Okay, go." The girl said calmly. She let go of her mother-in-law's hand and stood there.
The older woman dragged Kate and went to open the door behind a cupboard. She pulled the wooden cupboard and opened the door for Kate.
Since they reside in a dangerous place, they always have a backup plan for their safety.
She handed a torch to Kate. "Just follow the mud road, don't go inside the forest; it's dangerous."
She could do nothing more than this since her priority was her daughter-in-law and her unborn grandchild.
Kate nodded. She ran toward the path the woman told her she would never lose for anything since she got the chance.
She was missing David like a crazy person. She desperately chanted his name in her heart as if God granted her this wish if God knew how desperate she was.
