CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery novel Chapter 1504

Winnie reacted strongly, refusing to believe any of it.

“We’ve known each other for so long. He’s always been so good to me, and he’s incredibly dedicated to his work. He’s an exceptional lawyer. How could he possibly do something like this? You have to investigate thoroughly and clear his name,” she said, her voice trembling.

The captain waited until she finished before asking, “Miss Lewis, just now you called him ‘Jack.’ Is that right?”

“Yes, that’s his name, Jack Green. We’re engaged, and we’re getting married soon. Is there a problem with me calling him that?” Winnie responded, momentarily stunned.

Her first thought was that the captain was being unnecessarily nosy. Was it wrong for an engaged couple to call each other by their first names?

The captain shook his head. “This has nothing to do with your upcoming marriage, but the name you’re using doesn’t match the one on his ID. Were you aware of that?”

“You’re joking, right? That’s not funny,” Winnie said, her face going pale.

She stepped back, her whole body trembling as she looked at the captain in disbelief.

Impossible.

His name was Jack Green. If it wasn’t, then what could it be? There was no way he had deliberately lied to her.

“You know his ID number, but you don’t know his real name? Miss Lewis, I’m starting to suspect that you might be involved in this case,” the captain said, leading her into the interrogation room.

Winnie was completely stunned. “If his name isn’t Jack Green, then what is it?”

“I’ve never looked through his phone, and he’s always been the one sending me money. I’ve never transferred anything to him. I... I...” Winnie faltered, realizing how little she actually knew about Jack.

No, not him. Jack Green wasn’t even his name. He was Ben Lucas.

“What do you know about his work?” the captain asked, shifting his approach.

Winnie let out a bitter laugh. “Before I called the police, I tried the phone number he gave me for his law firm. It was disconnected. I thought the firm had scammed him, but now it’s clear the person fooled was me. From the start, the number he gave me was fake. And now you’re asking me what I know about him? I know less than you do!”

A wave of helplessness washed over her. Just moments ago, she had thought she had found the perfect husband. Now, it felt like her world had collapsed.

She had fallen straight from heaven into hell.
