CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery novel Chapter 1548

It was obvious that Jamie had something to say.

Without hesitation, Ben instructed the nanny to take Charlie outside to play, then turned back into the room.

“Just say whatever’s on your mind.”

“This time, you helped me bring the child back, and I owe you for that. But I can’t stay here for long. Now that the child is back, it’s time for me to leave,” Jamie said.

Ben raised an eyebrow. “You’re cutting ties so quickly after getting what you needed?”

“I just don’t want to trouble you any further,” Jamie replied, coughing lightly to mask her discomfort.

“Fine.” Ben’s voice was icy as he threw out the single word before turning and walking away.

Jamie hadn’t expected him to agree so readily and stood there stunned for a moment. But this was probably for the best. Dragging things out would only complicate matters.

She had wanted to ask about Winnie’s condition but didn’t feel comfortable calling him back. She decided to wait until the afternoon before leaving to ask.

Outside, Ben spotted Charlie playing with the nanny. His eyes flickered, and he strode forward, handing a toy to Charlie.

“Your mom’s planning to leave. What are your thoughts on that?”

“Of course, I’m going with Mom,” Charlie said without hesitation.

Ben smiled faintly. “But your mom isn’t in good health right now, and you’re not very strong either. If you leave here, she’ll be the only one taking care of you. If she gets sick, it’ll be really hard on her.”

“So what should we do?” Charlie suddenly lost interest in playing, looking up at Ben with wide, blinking eyes.

Ben chuckled. “Look around. At my place, there are plenty of staff who can take care of both you and your mom. There’s even a family doctor on call to manage any health issues. You’d both be well cared for.”

Jamie was touched by her son’s thoughtfulness and began to waver.

“But I already said we’d leave.”

“It’s okay, Mom. Uncle Ben is so nice. He’ll definitely let us stay,” Charlie said eagerly.

Jamie nodded and let out a deep sigh. “Alright, but we’ll leave once my fever is gone.”

“You’re the best, Mom! You’re my hero!” Charlie beamed with happiness.

Still, Jamie couldn’t shake the feeling that Ben had something to do with all this. He had made it clear earlier that he didn’t want her to leave.

After mulling it over, she decided to confront him before making a final decision. But just as she was about to go look for him, the doorbell rang repeatedly downstairs.
