"You better stop!" Eve interrupted her, "There's no Nash here, and no Grandpa either. You don't need to pretend in front of me. Show your true colors, you bad woman!"
Her words caught Nina off guard. How did she become a bad woman? They had no conflict between them, right? Yet, she was labeled as such by her.
Not wanting to cause trouble, Nina looked at Eve, who was several years younger and the granddaughter of Grandpa George. She grew up without her parents. Nina decided to compromise. "Since you both like it, you can have it. It's not a big deal."
But Taylor was not willing to let it go. She wanted to stand up for Nina.
Nina, however, said, "Taylor, let's go."
Taylor asked, "What about Mr. York's coffee beans? They're gone now. If he can't have his coffee, he'll blame you."
"It's okay."
Seeing her trying to act good, Eve snorted, "Don't pretend to be nice. Even if you yield, I won't thank you. You got me scolded by Grandpa and embarrassed me. I haven't settled the score with you. I won't forgive you!"
Seeing Eve's childishness, Nina did not bother to argue with her.
In fact, what Stella wanted was not the coffee beans, but to embarrass Nina. After all, Nina had embarrassed her last time. Even though she and Nash could have gone to see the fireworks, Nina ruined it.
Stella looked at Eve again, "Eve, thank you just now for standing up for me."
Eve looked at her and said, "It's nothing. If this Nina bullies you again next time, just tell me. I'll protect you."
"Eve, you're really great," Stella said, though she was inwardly sneering. "I only have you as a friend, and I'm glad to have you.
If Mr. York got busy with work and wanted coffee, even if it was not the same brand, it would do. Being unhappy was better than not getting any at all.
After buying the coffee, Nina and Taylor headed back. It was rush hour, and the roads were congested. Nina did not want to get stuck in traffic, so she took a shortcut to save some time.
Taylor had not been this way before and found the alley deserted, giving her an eerie feeling. "Nina, why are we taking this route? It feels a bit dangerous."
"There are fewer cars here, and it's faster to get to the office. Don't worry, we'll be fine," Nina reassured her. She had taken this route several times before.
Taylor added, "Don't worry, if there are really bad people, I'll protect you."
Nina chuckled at her words. However, it was not them in danger. As they drove past, they heard terrified screams echoing from the alley, "Ahβ What is this place? What do you want to do?!"
