At that moment, Nash was still at a social event, feigning compliance while secretly resenting it. Upon hearing the news about Nina, he immediately put down his drink.
"I understand," he said, hanging up the phone and quickly standing up.
Miranda was busy mingling with influential directors and producers, key figures who could help her climb to the top of the industry.
She did not notice Nash's departure until she saw the unfinished drink left behind. Distracted, she forced herself to smile and continue engaging with the influential guests as if nothing had happened.
Boom—
Thunder rumbled in the distance, signaling an impending downpour.
Soon, a raindrop fell to the ground.
Then another.
And another...
The rain began to pour more heavily.
When Nash arrived, he saw Nina, looking lost and lifeless, wandering aimlessly. Frowning, he got out of the car and walked briskly through the rain toward her.
He grabbed her arm and shouted, "What are you doing? It’s raining! Are you crazy?"
Nina turned to look at him, examining his impeccably dressed form as if he had come from an important event. She forced a smile. "Mr. York, you must have been the star at some grand banquet today. How splendid!"
Nash’s expression remained stern. Her casual smile was laced with sarcasm.
Nina looked at him, her cold smile unwavering. "You knew, Nash. You knew and chose to keep it from me! You abandoned me and didn’t even tell me I was dying. Is it to ease your guilt, or do you think that if I don’t know, it won’t be real?"
Nash listened to her harsh words, his expression stern. He had become the villain in her eyes.
Nina shook off his hand. "Why are you pretending to be a good person? What I do is none of your business! It’s my body. I have the right to know. You shouldn’t have kept it from me! What did you think I was, a fragile piece of glass? You hid the truth from me and let Scott risk his life for me. Nash, what right did you have to deceive me?"
She felt like a fool. She was poisoned, yet the last to know.
"You know everything now," Nash said, not expecting her to find out so quickly.
"It’s all your fault. You lied to me. You’ve been lying to me…" Nina’s voice trembled with anger.
Nash pulled her into his arms.
