Vanessa burst into loud tears the moment Hailey took her leave.
"It's okay, She's gone. Let's get you all cleaned up " Connie said, holding Vanessa's arm, trying to lift her up. But Vanessa refused to move an inch.
"Come on Eric, don't just stand there. Come help me out." Connie said to her husband.
Eric shook his head. He took closer steps to where both mother and daughter were on the floor, staring at Vanessa in disgust. "So you killed Hailey's child?"
"You need therapy, Eric. Why would you believe everything that brat says over your own daughter? Have some dignity!!!!" Connie attacked.
"Coming from someone who steals from me and from my company? You are too brave to be talking about dignity. Don't you think so?"
"We didn't steal any money?"
"Oh really?"
"We took it. We didn't steal it. After all your money is our money and we've got every right to it."
Eric mumbled, massaging his temple, not believing this was his new reality. "Took it? Can you hear yourselves out? So you both were trying to leave me once the company eventually collapsed?"
"That's my problem with you, you believe everything that bastard child says without waiting for a proper explanation from me!"
"I was saving up the money for us and for our benefits. Of course, we wouldn't go to Mexico without you! We were planning on getting you a flight ticket too. But fortunately, Hailey came back from her death and revived the company."
"Can you listen to yourself, Connie? Of course, you don't need me to explain to you that taking what doesn't belong to you without the permission of the owner is called THEFT. You didn't just take something little. You took a really huge sum!"
Connie rolled her eyes at her husband.
Eric turned his attention to his daughter. "You told me Hailey purposely slept with Cole just so you wouldn't get married to him. You watched me disown my first daughter! How evil can you be?" Eric said at the top of his voice, trying to hold back tears. He couldn't believe he ruined his life himself just because he was too blind to see the truth in his first daughter.
"I turned my back against the world for you both and this is how you both pay me back?"
"Well, if you had loved my child equally as much as you loved your daughter, then maybe this would not have happened," Connie explained.
"You think I never loved them equally? If there is any child that I have been unfair to then it is Hailey. I kicked her out of this house over a lie, I disowned her, cut her off her allowances, and gave Vanessa Hailey's share of allowance. What more do you both want from me?"
"What have I done to deserve this humiliation from you both?"
"I don't know why you all hated Hailey all along, making her look like a bad person when she has done nothing to hurt you all."
"And Vanessa, you tried to kill your own sister? As if killing a baby in the past isn't enough? How do you sleep at night knowing you've done something this disheartening to someone you share the same blood with?”
"Come on Eric, even if Vanessa is guilty of all other things to just a little extent. How can you believe she is capable of murder? She literally can't stand the sight of blood and you expect her to be capable of thinking murder? You disappoint me in so many ways. Would it hurt if you had some little trust in your daughter?"
"Hailey Hailey Hailey. Can you all just shut the fuck up!" Vanessa said at the top of her voice, wiping her tears with the back of her palm.
"Enough of that name around me. She always acts like she is perfect and I don't regret everything I did to her."
