"I should go join Jessica to see how it's going," Hailey said, getting ready to stand up from Cole's lap.
"I appreciate your all's effort but I don't think it's gonna be that easy."
Hailey frowned, "What do you mean?"
"Vanessa made a very serious accusation against me. Something the public is very curious about. I know they are going to have to carry out some serious investigations. It would have been so much easier if she was here to retract her statement."
"I gave her 12 hours," Hailey said, then took a glance at the time on her wristwatch. "It's been over 2 hours and she's not here yet."
"You didn't think she was going to come, right?"
"I put her in her place. I told her I was going to expose her if she didn't come to rectify her wrong."
"I know her to be someone really desperate and evil. She is worse than you think, Hailey. The last thing you should expect from Vanessa is turning herself in. She doesn't care if anyone threatens her. I know this because I have threatened her severally to stay away from me but she never does."
"She is strong-hearted and believes no one can ever bring her down."
"Well, she'is wrong, because I am not going to give up until she pays for every wrong she has done to us."
"But I really thought I would use all the evidence I have against her."
Cole sighed. He released a hand from her waist and intertwined his hand with hers. "I'm really grateful for your efforts, Babe. There is nothing wrong in tendering all the evidence you have against her, but that wouldn't favor me. And the law would probably go easy on her because she's pregnant."
"Vanessa won't come to retract her words even if you promise to end her life. I bet she is waiting for me to come to apologize to her."
"Well, that's sad because there is no way you are going anywhere near her." Hailes pouted.
A sad smile crept to Cole's lips. He leaned closer to her and kissed her pouty lips. "There is no way I would be meeting her for anything."
"She wants to ruin us. I don't know what I have ever done that has made her always hate me."
"I mean, yeah, she was betrothed to marry you but she ran away from the offer but you are mine now."
Cole smiled at her possessiveness. "You make me sound like some sort of property."
Hailey shrugged. "You are my property as much as I am yours. She just can't stand it."
"You shouldn't get worried about those thoughts. You are not the one with issues. She is. She is going miles to destroy us but the truth is that she secretly admires you and wishes she's got all that you have."
"I don't know how long it is going to take but I will make sure she ends up where she deserves."
"Definitely, my love."
"Let me go check up on them. I will be right back."
Just right before Hailey stood up from Cole's lap, he cupped her face in his hands, connecting his lips with hers for a soft passionate kiss.
"I love you." He whispered when he pulled away.
Hailey blushed, exiting the room.
She adjusted her hair with her fingers the moment she was out of the room, then approached Moore and Jessica who were standing at a far end corner.
"What's going on?"
"It's tougher than we seem," Jessica answered.
"Cole is not going to be released?" The disappointment didn't go unnoticed in Hailey's voice and eyes.
"They've got strong evidence. A video of Cole choking Vanessa."
"I can talk to them. I will make them know Cole isn't guilty. Vanessa caused all of it. She provoked him."
