Chasing The Rejected Luna's Heart (Clara and Liam) novel Chapter 150

~CLARA~

After Delilah and I got home, I immediately went up to my room, had my bath and changed into my night gown then laid down the bed as I waited for Damon.

Just then, my phone dinged on the nightstand, Indicating I had gotten a message.

I immediately rushed towards it, knowing it was Damon. I never used this phone, only when Damon was away did I keep it close.

Just as I thought, it was Damon. I frowned as I read the text before letting out a huff.

[I’m sorry baby, I'll be back later today. Don't wait up for me and get some sleep. I'll make it up to you, I promise] The message read but that night, Damon didn't come back and I fell asleep while waiting for him.

I woke up the next morning and frowned when I didn't see Damon beside me or catch his scent that would indicate that he did come back last night.

I immediately stood up from the bed, grabbed my phone and dialed his number as I paced the room but he didn't pick up. Damon always picks up.

“What is going on?” I muttered to myself and paused when I glanced out of the window and saw how rowdy it was.

I moved closer and furrowed my eyebrows as I stared out the window and at the men and women training. What was going on? Did an attack happen?

Just then, I heard a knock on the door before Delilah walked in.

“Rise and shine, babe” She greeted with a wide smile on her face before it faltered when she saw the look on my face.

“What’s wrong?” She questioned and I sighed.

“Damon isn't picking up his calls. Why is everyone suddenly training so hard? Did we get attacked last night? Is that why Damon isn't back?” I questioned, worry slowly making its way into my soul.

“No but Damon realized that we have been slacking off and decided to take training seriously again just in case something happens” She uttered and I narrowed my eyes on her.

“You aren't telling me the whole truth. What happened?” I questioned and she let out a nervous laugh.

“Nothing, Damon just wants to be prepared. Anything can happen now and we barely have enough able men and women. He's just being cautious,” She explained and I frowned.

Something must have happened.

“I need to speak with him” I told her and was about to walk out of the door when she blocked my way.

“I’m sorry but Damon specifically told me not to let you out of this room when he sent me here” She told me and I tilted my head as I folded my arms.

“I thought you said nothing was wrong?” I questioned and she pursed her lips.

“Yeah nothing is wrong but…”

“If nothing is wrong then there's no reason why I can't see my husband. You or anyone else cannot stop me” I told her while staring intently into my eyes and probably seeing how serious I was, she sighed and stepped out of my way.

I immediately made my way out of the room and out of the house, in search of Damon. Delilah was quick on my tails and in no time, I found him training a few men.

I stood there and watched how single handedly he defeated them all. None of them even stood a chance.

“Is this how far down my army has fallen? Why have you all gotten so weak?!” He thundered, silencing the entire training ground. Everyone bowed their heads in shame while I stared directly at him.

“I feel like I'm wasting my damn time training every single one of you. If this is my army then I might as well give up to the enemy because you're all pathetic!” He scolded them and I frowned when I saw the dejected looks on all their faces.

It wasn't entirely their fault, this pack was the only pack that hardly got attacked because it was the Alpha King's pack and because of Damon so of course they had all slowly relaxed. Just a little more practice and I was sure they would be back to normal.

“No need to be so hard on them” I said, turning his and everyone else's attention to me.
