Chapter 568 Guilt
The Mapleton family needed to maintain a low profile for a while to avoid causing discontent among others.
However, this fan would only work if the Mapleton family had done Elduin a favor.
Yet Hazel couldn’t recall when the Mapleton family had helped Elduin.
Could it have been Father?
With a sense of confusion, Hazel followed Endre to the Martial Arts Alliance’s dungeon.
Pascal had been detained here for several days now.
“May I have a moment alone with my father?” Hazel asked.
Endre nodded. “Of course, you can. Tomorrow, I will have your father released from the dungeon and arrange for him to have a comfortable living environment. Once this storm has passed, he may return to the Mapleton residence.”
With Elduin’s support, Endre couldn’t dare to further trouble Pascal. However, releasing Pascal so readily wasn’t appropriate either, as it might give the impression of favoritism within the Martial Arts Alliance.
Though he was indeed acting out of self–interest.
For now, the best course of action was to arrange for Pascal to stay in a secluded residence and release him later with other excuses.
For Endre, this was something he was quite skilled at.
Subsequently, Endre dismissed the law–executor in charge of guarding the dungeon. Then, he left, leaving only Pascal and Hazel behind.
Pascal was dressed in a prison uniform and looked even more aged and weary.
Upon seeing Hazel, Pascal sighed regretfully and said, “I’m sorry, Hazel, it’s because of me that you’re in this predicament.”
Hazel shook her head and comforted, “Dad, I’m fine, and you will be too. General Elduin has already spoken up for us. You’ll be out soon.”

“General Elduin?”
Pascal was taken aback.
Then, Hazel recounted what Endre had told her. However, Pascal furrowed his brows even deeper after listening.
Has the Mapleton family ever shown kindness to General Elduin?
Just like Hazel, Pascal also had no recollection of such an event. They had never had any dealings with the Sky Devourer Palace before. He wondered where this supposed favor came from.
Upon seeing Pascal’s confusion, Hazel became even more perplexed. After a moment of thought, she speculated, “Could it be because of Emrys?”
Emrys was the Empyrean Lord. If Elduin knew about Emrys‘ relationship with the Mapleton family, it would make sense for him to assist the Mapleton family.
However, Hazel doubted that Emrys had revealed this information to the Sky Devourer Palace, as Emrys had only recently discovered his own identity.
Moreover, one point worth noting was that if Elduin knew about the relationship between Emrys and the Mapleton family, when he came to find Endre, he could have stated that the Empyrean Lord was Pascal’s grandson rather than claiming he was indebted to the Mapleton family.
This indicated that Elduin was hiding something.
After some contemplation, an audacious thought suddenly surfaced in Hazel’s mind. She said, “Dad, I feel like Emrys might still be alive. He must be planning something.”
When she uttered those words, she was taken aback.
When the Empyrean Lord descended with the sinking island, it was a spectacle witnessed by all, and the subsequent events seemed to confirm the demise of the Empyrean Lord.
If Hazel’s assumption proved true, it would undoubtedly raise a monumental banner, one that was capable of toppling the power structures of all martial artists worldwide.
Upon hearing this, Pascal’s body shuddered violently. However, he quickly turned and said, “Hazel, you should go back. I’m doing well here. There’s no need for me to move anywhere else.”
