Crash-landed On An Island With Nine Beauties novel Chapter 64

"Why is he not here yet?"

Mira asked. The girls were gathered outside the castle, towards the gate of the fenced area. They were facing the gate, looking at the endless stretch of the wood as though they were awaiting something or someone important.

"Could he possibly forget?"

Evelyn turned to Mira. Tendzel scoffed,

"How could he forget? Could he forget that he brought the idea, or that he had us worry about the plans of the celebration. Which part would he forget?"

"Irresponsible people even forget their names."

Laurette attacked.

"Isn't that too much, Laurette?"

Mira her sister scolded. Laurette rolled her eyes instead of responding.

"Is it only me, or did Laurette change overnight?"

Claire strayed off the point. Everyone turned to her.

"What do you mean? She's always been against Damien. She's like your second-in-command."

Tendzel countered.

"There's a different heat to her reaction. Oops, I forgot, y'all are too dumb to get the reference."

None of the girls took her seriously. They seemed to be acquainted with her nuance and her sassy manners.

"What do you say we do?"

Allison asked no one in precise. It seemed as though she was beginning to see the reason to ask instead of order around. This isn't Las Vegas, it's the jungle!

"We can't just stand here all day."

Evelyn was impatient.

"Do we then wander into the woods aimlessly?"

Jada had another idea. Most of the girls shook their heads gently.

"I'll go check if the crossbows are in the other safehouse. One of you should go to his room."

Allison left at once for the safehouse. Evelyn had ran in the direction of the castle before any of the rest could make a turn.

Allison returned to the girls empty-headed. After a while, Evelyn also returned. Not only empty-headed but with fallen face.

"The eager mistress was disappointed?"

Claire trolled. Evelyn pouted, rolling her eyes weakly at Claire who sneered.

"His room is locked."

The girls sighed. It seemed like all of them were clueless about what next to do.

"If we were able to find the crossbows, we could had gone into the woods ourselves."

"How could he not return? I thought he said he wanted to work for a while."

There was an edge to Jada's voice. More like concern with a hint of anger.

"Y'all can keep waiting for him all I care. I would rather spend the day sleeping."

Claire turned to leave.

"Look!!!"

Laurette called, pointing past the girls. The girls looked quickly in the direction. The white wolf was walking towards the fence.

"It's the wolf!!!"

Tension was building up amongst the girls. Someone like Evelyn was about to run away, Ayisha grabbed her arm.

"Seriously? Shouldn't we get used to this already? Don't tell me that you want to run away again."

Allison stole the stance again. The girls reluctantly looked back to their front.

"Obviously it's been sent to come pick us."

"How can you be sure?"

For no reason, Claire attacked.

"So much for a person who's the wisest. What's there not to see?"

Jada snapped at Claire who was ready to take it on.

"You can stay here all you want. Yourself and your second-in-command."

Allison wasn't ready for the shit-show.

"Come girls."

She led the way. The wolf stopped few steps away from the gate. Two of the girls pushed the gate open and they walked out.

Seeing them, the wolf turned his back and started walking up the path.

"Can someone please tell it to run?"

Evelyn who was eager to meet Damien called. They had been walking for quite a while.

"It's she, dummy."

Laurette corrected. Claire was walking behind her. They decided to have a change of mind.

"Convince me that there's nothing going on between you and Damien?"

Claire caught up with Laurette, asking in whisper. The two girls were few steps behind the rest. So, they could have a discourse without the rest eavesdropping.

"What are you talking about?"

Laurette stopped walking.

"It's true, isn't it? I could see the way he looked at you yesterday and the response."

Claire turned to her; she'd been facing her front all along.

"Don't tell me that you made out when you went to report the details of the events to him!!!"

Laurette's face broke into a gentle smile. She resumed walking.

"So it's true."

Laurette called over her head, and Claire tried to catch up.
