"Open your mouth."
Wesley said when he saw Harriet narrowed her eyes and did not listen to him. Jack found the simple three words indicated spoiling and helplessness.
Harriet opened her eyes and said with a twang, "I want Wesley to feed me."
Wesley gently raised his eyebrows and said, "I’m doing what you want."
Harriet blinked, looked at Wesley again, and then nodded contentedly, "Fine!"
Then she took a sip of the soup in a bowl that Wesley held.
Jack stood aside and looked at them. He suddenly felt that he should not stay here, so he said gently, "Well, Mr. Smith, I'll go out first. You can call me if you need me."
Wesley said tonelessly, "OK".
After Jack left, Wesley was more gentle to her. He even did not realize that he was looking at Harriet lovingly.
"Wesley, can you stay?"
Harriet drank the sobering soup obediently. She saw Wesley put the porcelain bowl on the bedside table, and thought he was going to leave soon, so she hurriedly took his arm. Her tone was totally different from when she was clear-headed.
Wesley patted the top of her head and said, "I don't say I’ll go."
Harriet was satisfied like a child who got a candy. She went back to the quilt, held Wesley's hand, and added, "After I get up, I’ll cook dinner for you. Do you wanna poached eggs?"
"Yes."
She might think that they still lived in the house in the Pear Garden, and still lived a loving life as before.
Wesley felt relieved, which was a little bit strange. When he heard the lovely remarks of Harriet, he forgot the upset before and he did not want to investigate how she came closer to Bryant Fox.
Unfortunately, it seemed that she would not make him angry when she was drunk.
Harriet slept in a daze. Wesley stayed by the bed for a while, tucked the quilt around her, and checked the temperature on her forehead again. When he confirmed that she was getting better, he walked out of the room.
"Jack, send someone to take care of her."
After saying that, Wesley left seemingly indifferently.
Jack was confused again. Mr. Smith obviously cared about Miss Clark, but he pretended and did not want her to know about it. Why?
When he came back to the car, Wesley rubbed his brow and closed his eyes. He gripped the wheel tightly with the other hand.
There was only one reason for him to leave: if he stayed, he could not help kissing Harriet. He wanted to hug her, and asked her if she still had a headache and why she canceled the contract. He cared about everything about her.
It was funny. When did he start to care so much about her?
This was definitely not a good sign.
When Harriet woke up, it was obviously dark outside the window. There was soft lamplight.
She still had a headache and felt dizzy. She rubbed her head and found that she was in the house of Wesley. She opened the door and saw the light in the living room on, so she felt a little pleasantly surprised.
Wesley was here, wasn’t he?
"Hello, Miss Clark." Jack's voice came from the living room. He said, "I have prepared dinner for you."
Harriet looked around but did not find Wesley. She felt upset but pretended to be indifferent.
"No. I should go back."
Jack frowned in embarrassment and said, "But Mr. Smith told me that you could leave after taking the meal."
"Who is he to ask me to do that?" Harriet said indifferently, "He is my boyfriend? Husband? Fiancée?"
