Darling, Don't Get Rid of Me novel Chapter 87

Harriet couldn't refuse, she went up and gave him a hand, walked him slowly towards the entrance of the apartment and then followed his instructions to get the key from one of his pockets.

After they finally got the door open, Len immediately went into his room and looked into his drawer, he took two pills from the medicine bottle and immediately he was in a much better shape.

"...thank you. I'm sorry about this, we're meeting for the first time and I couldn't help you with your moving, and instead you had to trouble yourself to give me a hand. I hope I didn't startle you." Len sounded helpless, he looked a bit sorrowful and his face still flushed from the coughing fit.

Len's fragile state reminded Harriet about the time when her brother just regained consciousness. He was just as skinny and fragile looking. She felt sympathetic and was concerned about him.

"Don't worry about it, Mr. Davis. Rest well and take care, I'm going to take my leave. Oh, I'll be leaving the key on your table."

Len's face was as red as a tomato when she mentioned the key.

Harriet realized that the man was probably feeling embarrassed, because she had to touch all over him just now to find his key. His reaction was so innocent that she chuckled, she thought that it was kind of cute.

"I'll be off."

Len nodded and said, "Yes, thank you."

Harriet settled down in her new apartment and had a few days off. The current drama that she was shooting for was scheduled to wrap up soon and Harriet wanted to get ready for the new suspense drama she signed up for.

Everybody from the drama crew attended the wrap up party.

"Don't drink too much, Harriet. I have some business to take care and I'll be leaving early. You have to go home on your own." Molly reminded Harriet softly at the dinner table.

Harriet nodded, but emptied another cup of alcohol just right after.

"Harriet, let's have a toast. You looked after me a lot these days, and gave me great hints and tips. I really think that my acting abilities went up a notch." Cherry was smiling brightly as she said that.

Harriet finished another cup of alcohol in one gulp, and said, "Don't be such a stranger. It is you and your talent that made you shine even brighter than before. You were a powerhouse, and your talent and ability were just waiting to be discovered all these time."

Cherry blushed as she was feeling embarrassed from receiving such praise.

"You really should stop drinking, Harriet." Molly glanced at the time and tried to persuade Harriet again.

Cherry gazed at Molly with a sense of assurance and said, "Don't worry, Molly. I'll call her a cab later, I assure you that she'll reach home safe and sound."

Molly felt relieved after hearing that, though she reminded Harriet to watch out for herself again before she left the party.

The relationship between the three of them blossomed during the shooting, they were best friends at this point. Molly trusted Cherry, she believed that Cherry would protect Harriet if anything were to happen.

"Harriet, everybody in the crew attended this wrap up party. Do you know why Mr. Smith is not here?" Cherry was asking but she seemed to already know the answer to the question.

Everybody piped in after hearing what Cherry said, one of the actors even said jokingly, "Yeah, why isn't Mr. Smith here to congratulate you? Did you get on his bad side?"

Harriet smiled a bit awkwardly and said, "We are not close at all, I would never have the chance to do something that displeases him. You guys are really mean, pulling my leg like that. But it's okay, I'm a thoughtful person, I'll remember not to tell Mr. Smith about what you guys just said."

"See, it's starting again, I call her bluff. She said she wasn't close with Mr. Smith, but then she said she'll remember not to talk to him behind our backs. How would you do that if you don't know him so well, do you talk to him in your dreams?" A few actors started joking without any restraint.

Harriet joined the fun and drank one cup after another.

She normally wouldn't do something like drinking without control in a party like this, because it was easy to lose and embarrassed oneself. But she felt very empty today, she started drinking a lot to fill the hole in her heart.

After her conversation with Wesley at the Pop Culture Group, Wesley had not contacted her at all. It was weird because she signed the insanely unfair contract, he should be wanting to be more intimate with her, not leaving her alone and not contacting her.

Maybe, just maybe, he found a new lover.

Harriet looked all relaxed after the shooting, but it was just an act. And today she felt like she wanted to drink her heart out to let off some steam and try to forget about her loneliness that she was hiding deep in her heart.

"Harriet, it's about time to leave. I'll call you a cab and send you home."
